My XL600
Hi Guys, Finally got my new to me 84 XL600 to run again and here are some pics....
![]() It's a little shabby at the mo, but, love it all the same, not sure what the fenders are off of though, anyone know ? ![]() As far as I'm aware it's a standard 84 PD03 apart from the fenders and the FMF pipe. I have a few plans for it. Managed to pick up a Dakar twin round headlight unit and fairing, it's been painted badly though, so, need to strip the paint off, any suggestions for something that'll strip the paint without damaging the plastic - happy to put elbow grease in :) I also just bought a standard rear rack from Germany, so, from what I've read on the forum, I seem to have been pretty lucky with parts so far |

On my 83 Xl600r. The specs for my Camshaft lobe height reads
Specification 31.023mm and the wear limit is 31.85mm. How can the wear limit be larger should it be smaller? |

Hi Moparmanpete, Actually in the Italian version that you sent me it says something different. It says 30.85mm not 31.85mm which makes more sense. I think its a typo in the American manual.

The Dakar tanks do have 2 fixings at the rear and the nose of the seat is different as well.

Been shopping around for some tires. Anyone ever run a wider tire up front, if so what size? can always use a bit more cushioning on the bike.

I'm riding riding riding POP I'm pushing pushing
Hate when old reliable becomes old damn thing.
Haven't really had a chance to dig into it yet. I am sure I have a ignition problem, but have to get a better multi meter to really check stuff. Got a new coil on the way already just cause I found a deal on one, and the plug wire was arcing to the tank. Woke me up a couple times before I wrapped some old tube around it.![]() Chris

Check me please
Before I say the stator is bad. Can someone tell me I did this right? Black and red(?) wire from stator. Not in the 4 pin plug, but right next to it and from the stator harness. I should have 40-50v ac when kicking over? Test that wire and I get almost nothing. I think 13 something was the best I got. Do I need a better meter to do this test? I have just a napa special multi meter. Don't know how fast it reacts? I get no voltage at the primary coil wire either. Checked wire from harness to coil and the ground wire for coil and got nothing. I am pretty sold on the stator went south, just double check me would someone please.
Chris
