Korsika, Corsica, Corse... how ever spelled...

...one brilliant place to spend some time with the motorbike.... again and again!

Quiet some weeks I’m struggling now to finally start one cool, funny, clever, intelligent, meaningful, worth to ask you FF’s reading it, and worth as well to be placed here at “RR&PPP’s” at all ride report. The one week trip to the island of Corsica for sure has been this all, only I’ve been waaaaay to lazy so far, sitting down with the dictionary and setting up that report properly.

While “reading” KEV’s “Stella Report” today I realized again that it’s not so much about words, but can also have all of the requested above, simply by placing a bunch of pics….. I might also forget about the perfectionist’s whish, showing some maps or google earth loops about what area, road or hill we are talking…. Ey, no complaining! YFF’s eat what’s on the table!

To pimp the whole thing a bit up, I mix this years pics with some of the last trip. So don’t wonder if there can be seen a 1150GSA on the older pics and 1200GS on the newer ones.

After a 6hr’s highway-chase down to the ferry port of Savona and all the way through rain, the real pleasure starts at harbor, getting comfortable and dry while waiting to bring the goat into the boat!

The 4hrs cruise is usually quiet comfortable, especially if the vessel is not stuffed up to the sealing with other tourists. Often enough they have neat little places to spend the sparetime.

Finally one's debarking in Bastia, the place in the northern part of the island which gets closest to what one would call a city. How ever, as the proportions in this picture might explain, the arriving of a vessel is quite an important thing in a Corsican City’s life!

Corsica is French territory…. On the paper at least…. So there are two main things French love most to do:
1^st, Playing Petanque while 2^nd having one, two or more Pastise, Riccard, Pernod or similar ugly looking booze.

The villages are…. well, it’s mostly as if you’d ride right through one huge museum.. all the villages on the countryside look like that… No new buildings almost nowhere to see.

Either they do have one great working “old structure prevention program” or they just have not enough money for any construction ideas. Anyway, they must have been quiet rich in the early days…. How else to explain such risky place’ to set up your home?

Being on the island in spring is a bit of a lottery regarding weather. This year I didn’t hit the big “great weather jackpot”. How ever, I prefer not to hit the weather-jackpot on Corsica instead of hitting a “7-days-warm-wether” mini-jackpot back home.
