Cave Folks:

I have so enjoyed the trip and your telling of it - you just do not know how much I look forward to finding out what happened/is happening/will happen.

You are in my top 3 with Striking Viking and Flying Avanti - but Avanti is starting to fade as his updates fade into memory. The race is on - who will post the next phase and move into the #1 RR slot?

I know Viking gave up on HD and has been a BMW convert - but I like the fact that you are looking at a new HD engine. Recharge and repair then burst out again before you get snowed in up North.

Don't forget to keep us in the know ....so who do I read while I am waiting?

You two have been a blessing to me - to my imagination - filling my dreams with a Family Sabbatical to Mexico or Niciragua....

Thanks and keep it up!

OK, here is the story: An Adv inmate mentioned a web site I should check out. Thanks LJC. There I find a junked out 95’ Sportster 1200 on auction with the bidding ending the next day at noon. Wow! I sign up to the auction site and wait for confirmation. I’m on. I say to Heidi ”I could be driving down to pick up a motorcycle tomorrow” I don’t believe the words that are coming out of my mouth.

The bidding went slow and steady and lasted over 40 minutes past noon. 12:42 PM I’m unloading the cavebike from the trailer to make room for the new motor.

New cavebike motor. Oh Freaking Yeah!

Heidi approves of the new Cave-Motor…….

Why was the 1995 "junked out" - just curious as it looks (from quick glance on a computer screen) to be in good shape?

Hope the auction works out for you

Looks like you did o.k. with the auction. I've been there a few times. Can't wait to hear how she runs. I suspect you will find a few more donor parts from the new machine

A few dents and bent bars

hey C/B
if the frame's not bent everything else would just be R/R from the old to the new. this bike might have been just a quick drop and the jockey got scared and gave it up. but then again those dents look like my dodge after a bad round of golf. Great life travels to you and heidi

oil pump gear

Hey Cavebikers,

On your new motor, I would replace the oil pump gear with the newer one HD has out for a few years now. I would venture a guess that had something to do with your catstrophic engine failure. Here's a little more about it........

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buel...259#POST221439

By the way, I'm going to be traveling thru your vicinity Monday aug 11th. If you see an old Blue bagger traveling with an old black bagger and an as yet unidentified bike, honk your horn.

And one last thought....put an oil cooler on that bike!
