My Daughter's first ride was to a Father/Daughter dance in Kindergarten (about one mile away thru the neighborhood):
![]() She was so psyched to arrive and depart the dance on a bike! After that there was no stopping her - the hardest part was finding proper riding gear. helmet and foot and knee protection were easy, but could never find decent Kids jackets. We finally bought a size small ladies riding jacket and she just rolls up the sleeves - here she is at 7 years old and thinking she's a super model:

Very cool- great thread.
Hoping that i can get my 13 year-old daughter to go on a ride with me... so far, my 10-year-old son is the only one who'll ride with me!!!

Mine is way too young to be riding. (just turned 3) But here we are on at one of my favorite places to ride, Mt. Lemmon.
She does have an Aprilia sticker on her Big Wheel.

Taking my 12yo to the MSF dirt bike school this Saturday at the Honda Rider Education Center. I'll take some pics. I'm hoping for a major step up the learning curve.

Yesterday my 3 year old daughter was excitedly telling me how when she gets older I can take her riding and we go on trips together. I hope the enthusiasm lasts... My 17 month old son CANNOT stay away from the bikes. If he sees them anywhere, he immediately starts pointing and making vroom vroom noises. If he escapes into the garage, he is trying to climb on them. The first time he sat on one, he immediately grabbed the grips and started in with the noises. It is like he was born with it

Man that makes me want to go out and find a Ural Sidehack rig. I could probably fit the Daughter AND the wife in there. What a blast!

Excellent thread!
My daughter (Charlotte, 8) saw this thread and insisted I join the site and post this photo
I take her to school on the bike once a week - it's great fun to hear your pillion giggle when you go over speedbumps. We'd like to go on longer trips, but we live in south east asia so the drivers here are a bit more insane than I'm comfortable with, and "ATGATT" here translates to "flip-flops and a cheap nylon jacket worn back-to-front". On the ATGATT front, what can you folks recommend? I want to get her kitted up but we're on the equator so it's got to be extremely cool and airy, she's growing fast so if it isn't a bit flexible on sizing it's going to get expensive, and it's going to have to be international mail order so I need to be sure it's going to fit! Her little brother's showing encouraging signs too: When I left the UK I sold my yamaha dragstar to a grandfather from Dorset. He was raising his 8-yr-old granddaughter after she'd lost her parents, and wanted to buy a cruiser so they could go riding together around the country. Top lad, lucky girl! I was very happy to sell that bike to a good home :) (can anyone tell me how to make the photos show up in-line? I've tried all sorts of things...) Have fun! Geoff ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are some pics from the 200 last year and then the tire tests a coupla months ago, she just happened to wear the same shirt, (it's her "Motorcycle" shirt) I asked a mechanic if she could take a picture next to Hays' bike, and he saw us and asked if she wanted to sit on it! Spies actually sent his dad over to ask if we wanted a picture with him! And Tommy was very gracious even though he just got off a test run. All Great Guys!! |
