Go to one of these if you can

This is some info a friend passed on to me, it also includes the Jerseydale area we just rode though.

Andrew

Subject: Bass Lake 'Notice of Intent' & public meetings

Howdy to all pro-ohv interested parties in the Bass Lake 'ohv route designation' process. As you may or may not know, the Forest Service (due to court mandate) is in the process of creating a 'ohv route system' which really means they are going to legally close trails & roads that are not considered 'official' by the FS.

Forest Service hompage on this process: http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sierra/projects/ohv/index.shtml

Several meetings are coming up for us, the public & forest trail users, to get involved:

September 24 - Mariposa - 6:30-9:00 pm-Best Western Yosemite Way, 4999 Hwy 140
September 26 - Clovis - 6:30-9:00 pm - Sierra NF Headquarters, 1600 Tollhouse Rd
September 27 - Prather - 6:30-9:00 pm - High Sierra Ranger Station, 29688 Auberry Rd
October 2 - Oakhurst - 6:30-9:00 pm - Oakhurst Community Center, Road 425B

I know that this kind of stuff is NO FUN at all, but if the Eldorado forest DEIS is any indication, even with ohv input & protests they still stand to lose 75% of the existing road & trail network. Yes, that was not a typo ... 75%!!

I have been getting input from Amy Granat w/CORVA (http://www.corva.org/) on the ins & outs of this process. Basically what it boils down to is that the Forest Service is going to close our roads & trails while using ohv money to do it.

We must take a stand, attend meetings & write letters. Amy is working on a reply to the Sierra FS NOI, and I hope to use some of her facts & knowledge to put together a short & sweet factual reply myself. I will forward that to everyone so that we can share ideas and we all do not have to start at ground zero.

I will be at the Prather meeting on the 27th. Thanks for listening!

The DR is back in the garage

It now has the premium spot and the GS has been kicked to the back.
The DR performed nearly flawlessly. I had so much fun on this trip.

I got home at 3:15 on Sunday

Rob and I rode some righteous trails and did some bodacious single track manzanita exploration with mondo hill climbs.

Camping is great, just name the hotel and I am in, unless someone supplies a chase vehicle with 1/2 and 1/2 and coffee service along with a bed with cotten sheets.

Probably the best ride ever.

Grr - Damn Husa-doesnt-run

Damn, sounds like I missed another fun one! Been wrestling with the berg all week. Got it back together but not running yet. I thought I had it nailed but no luck.

Tom take a look at this http://www.husaberg.org/index.php?na...&postorder=asc, I am missing that damn emulsion tube as well. Just emailed that vendor, should have my miracle tube by the end of the week if all goes well. I really hope this fixes some of my problem.

Wife approved the new tank, so I will be getting one for the Oct. 20th ride. Do we have a location/route picked? I will need to start thinking of jetting if you all are plannin a 10k foot run again. I will not run the berg that high without adjusting, it ran like CRAP above 6k, im suprized I even got it started.

As far as a chase vehicle goes, I imagine I am due for this duty. If I can't get out for the Oct. 20th ride on the bike I want to go up in the truck and catch lunch or dinner with you all.

LMS,
Thanks for the pics. Rob I want to see your pics too.
That was a really special ride. Steve's blown right hander, that could have ended badly. Rob finding a welder on the side of the road. The weather. Bouncing fuel canisters. Just a really good trip.

Thanks to Rob and Steve for getting us started on the right foot. Good coffee and great breakfast sandwiches are a new and very welcome feature on the DSRider adventure.

Dillon- how was the rest of your trip home and your reception after getting home in the wee hours of Sunday morning? Hope all's well! All I got was "we're going to have to talk about this" . But, as always, I'll just inform my signifigant other who wears the pants and brings home the bacon and all will be well. BTW she doesn't know about this website.

Andrew, Jeff, Katrina, Dillon, Steve,Lane, and Rob; good ride and see you next time. and yes I'm down with the overnighter idea.

Steve,
There is a riding area just outside of Twain Hart, From there you can ride past Lyons Lake and Hell's Half Acre. I got chewed out by a sheriff up there once. Just down the road around Long Barn I've heard has great trails that go forever. I think we could get to either place from Sonora. That's a long day if we ride trails all the way up. We need a full day up there to explore.

what was the name of that fire road from ben hur (i can recall 800 was that it instead of ben hur, and followed along the chowchilla river to 49..or did it go further north? I get a little lost on the map and can't remember. I know we dropped into bootcamp to pick up gas where we met that nice old man and got some ice cream.
