I cant get out enough to be familiar with the mountains... Those references to areas baffle me hell that mighta been fun to do, just plain ass ran outa time to research it. Spent all day playing chauffeur to the wife and kiddos and doing my 5 hour (rediculous!) oil change/tune up on the 950. Just about to start the 530, I think the heat is getting to me a bit.

Going to ride tamarack area for the simple reason we can get up above 6500' and stay there and I know dave, dave and I know how to get there. Sunday I am hoping to get on the 950 and disappear till I feel like turning around.

Meet time: 0800-0820

Meet spot:
44497-44863 Huntington Lake Rd, Big Creek, CA 93605

Been three years since I been up this way... Really looking forward to it.
Monte, I'm in for Sunday! I'll be on Tiger 955 with Anakee 2s. If this is going to be a bit more dirt oriented, I'll be on my trusted DRZ. If you want, I can meet you down in the flatlands.

Redwave Dave: Nice to meet you and glad you had fun. The ride ended up being a lot more technical than I was planning! Will post my pics later today

Some pics from our ride yesterday. We trucked to Tamarac Ridge and rode the Red Mountain OHV area. Myself (orange KTM), Monti (white KTM) & Redwave (XR650). I had a prior engagement in the evening so we didn't get to stay out long, but we had a good time!

Lunch at Strawberry Lake.

The jeep road back from Strawberry

Monti always has to show off for the camera...

The Red Lake/Coyote Lake trail.

Do you guys come across these often?

The shiftiness of it was, well, interesting:

I posted about it here:

Carnival-ride-cattle-guard

Will we be seeing a lot of these? Any thoughts and/or tips?

I tend to think that would depend on how/when it decided to change positions. I'm thinking it it waited until after the front was off, and then spiked up for the rear, well, it doesn't sound fun... But then, I'm a noob, and having enough fun with the easy stuff. I'm not looking for challenges. I'll leave that to you guys.

Want to ... Can't. Burns that I even have the time off from work that week...

If your dates (departure/return) shift at all I might be able to make part of it with ya.

Well, someone had some more info in the other thread, it's supposed to be like this:

http://www.2tcattleguard.com/2t_catt...d_overview.htm

With springs(?) to return it to the evenly raised position slowly after you cross it. that makes much more sense. And sounds much safer for everyone. This one didn't have anything like that. It just lurched between various raised and peaked positions, and never laid flat like pictured above.
