Desert

We all should go to the Desert and get some ridding in before DVDay's. Stay at the hotel in Cal. City and ride from there.

My XR should be back to gather next week I hope.

Stewards of the Sierra NF

I'll probably be at the Wednesday evening meeting but I can't make the Saturday trail fixings. In case any if you are not otherwise engaged in another activity and would like to help our forest I copied this from an email blast I get.

Quote:
The Stewards of the Sierra National Forest will be having their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Wednesday November 13, 2013 at the Pizza Factory located in the Madera Ranchos. Please bring your wife and kids out to eat some pizza and stay informed as to what is happening in the forest. The meeting will start at 7:00 and run till 9:00.

The Pizza Factory
37184 Ave. 12
Madera Ranchos Ca. 93636
559.645.7011

The shut down and furlough of the Federal Government is now over and it is back to the forest full throttle.

We received an e-mail from the forest stating that it was now ok to be a volunteer and work for free again. Go Figure. For the Stewards it is time to crank up our maintenance work on your favorite roads and trails.

We will also be talking about our planned Browns Creek Trail Day which is scheduled for Saturday 11/16/2013. We will need volunteers to help us mitigate some issues on this trail and a few others that we will also be working on.

We are also be looking for volunteers to help out with the implementation of the mitigation work that needs to be done to help open more trails and roads in the Sierra National Forest.

These are your Public Lands Please help to keep them Open and in Shape. If you do not, the next time you go to the forest it might just be closed and you will be standing there wondering what happened.

Browns Creek Trail Day
Saturday November 16, 2013

Please come join the 2011 Sierra National Forest/ Region 5 All of California/ USDA/USFS Volunteer Trail Group of the Year the Stewards of the Sierra National Forest and the Bass Lake Ranger District for a Trail Appreciation Day on the Browns Creek Trail located in the Whiskey Ridge Area. This is your chance to come out and show your support for the trails you love and at the same time help to keep them open and in tip top shape.

This Saturday November 16, 2013 we will meet at the Iron Telephone Green Gate up Peckenpaw Rd outside of North Fork Ca. at 9:30 a.m. Our mission for the day is to have some fun riding around the area and at the same time do some trail improvements and address some maintenance issues.

The Stewards will supply sodas and bottled water and all of the needed tools and supplies to accomplish this great task. So bring your wife and kids out to the forest to have some fun
and to make a difference in your Sierra National Forest.

Lets show the Forest Service how much we care about our Sierra National Forest and how working together we can keep it open for everybody to enjoy. Please R.V.S.P. to info@sotsnf.org A.S.A.P. or give me a call at 831-801-1111-cell so we will know how much equipment and refreshments to bring.

Thanks in advance for coming out and making a difference to help keep your PUBLIC LANDS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC NOT FROM THE PUBLIC. I am looking forward to seeing all of you on Saturday Morning.

Mike
Remember the Stewards do this for all of us.

Question B-v

Anybody doing BV this year? I just run down to Barstow on Friday and pit for my buddy in Baker on Saturday (he has a 2 stroke that needs pre-mix). Then I go on to Vegas and stay there until Monday. Following my 2 back fusions I am just a little too afraid of hurting myself to ride it anymore. How about you, JP? Ready to conquer that demon?

JP, I would like to return the favor from the single track stuff you showed me a few weeks ago with the group and show you that side of the forest but would probably bore you with what I know. I'm not up to your skill level. Another way would be to get the free Vehicle Use maps from the Forest Service. There probably isn't a trail on the map you can't ride. Then you can explore them. If you go to the Stewards trail appreciation day that I posted the other day you can get some riders to show you the area. We are quickly running out of time this year I think. So maybe in the spring several of us can get out there. I may be a better rider by then.
