We can load up and head over to the coastal mountains or maybe even Cal City or something if you're feeling froggy and wanted to get an early, early start?? I've got the gas covered.

Leaving the area for better riding sounds like a damn fine plan to me I'm good with either one of your listed options. I can ride over to your house early Sunday AM or you can pick me up. PM me your addy or let me know & I'll give you mine

Can you find this trail again JP?

If not, Kern Valley trail would be pretty cool also?

Whats your vote?

Kern canyon trail is a good one... We are finishing a 2 mile reroute this weekend, the new section will bypass the two track section making it all single track from top to bottom.
Join the Stewards of the Sequoias, they do a lot to keep our trails open.

Well the XT is up on Craigslist. My first bike, sad to see it go.

I know I'm asking too much, but It doesn't hurt to try?

Well it's sold! That has got to be the fastest sell I've ever done! Was on Craigslist for about 18 hrs. A 70yr old guy from North Fork is getting back into dirt riding. Glad to see it going to a good new home!

Now I gotta decide, LC4 or DR? The DR will need $1k in upgrades, the lc4 is more expensive but is basically ready to go. Hmmmm....

640 Adventure R
Or
DR 650
Edit: or an older husky like N8's above

Remember... ya got a dirtbike with a plate already my 2 cents.

A KTM will be more work ... My DR was damn near flawless (few little bugs mostly mistakes I made) for the 8k miles I owned it. But think about miles per year you plan to operate it. One trip from home up into the hills is ~250 miles. If you rode it once a month 12 months out of the year... That is one oil change a year on either and maybe one front tire and a rear and a half. Hah at that rate of use a little less reliability is likely a moot point.

If you were riding it to work daily I would say DR hands down. But for what it sounds like you plan to do with it... LC4 would be the ticket.

I want to own one o them LC4 Adventure R's one day. If I owned one it'd likely be what I would ride to death valley on in January if I wasnt able to talk Caren into going.

On that topic she doesn't seem really keen on camping out in death valley with me. Crap. This'd be the trip I would want to haul her out for. Overnight temps though has her leaning towards "no way in hell".

Also along the lines of adventure touring on light bikes... anyone need some soft bags??

I got a top bag and saddle bags I have no use for in the near future. I could use some cash for a gift for Caren.
