Yeah me too. That was going to be our next Sequoia night ride, the only ST in the north...

Well, I called the Hume Lake Ranger District. They say 12S01 is closed, and has been for several days, due to a rockslide. No expected opening date as of yet. So... Back to the maps... Where to go this weekend?

Ok good, that just means no cages... Two wheels good to go.

Mr Pcvance

Are you riding to Warped next weekend. If so, What time do you plan on leaving Friday for Kernville. I and I believe KimBoy aka Mat would like to ride with you.

Things are up in the air that is an idea but not for sure. I also have you and Chip that were nice enough to offer up a ride.

Warped is sold out, if you don't have a spot it's too late.

Well, by all means, if you ride it, let me know what it's like. We were planning an overnight trip, camping down by the Kings, and then coming up that way on Sunday morn. When she's on her little bike, we have to work around a rather small fuel capacity/range, and that leg was pretty important to the overall journey. Not knowing if the "rockslide" is two rocks the size of washing machines, or the whole side of a mountain, I'm not sure we want to risk it. I'd hate to ride 80% of the way up towards 180, just find out we couldn't make it. It would seriously tax our fuel situation. We carry a little extra gas each, but I hate to make that part of the plan. I prefer to keep it as a "just in case" type thing.

Unless you think she could ride her Wombat up Verplank Ridge?!

Well since I don't know of anyone who has ever made it up Verplank Ridge, good luck with that.

Just talked with Dave Martin, District Ranger for Bass Lake District, he said there is no truth to this rumor. The only potential closures the FS deals with are the standard high fire danger restrictions such as no camp fires outside designated cpgds, no use of chainsaws etc. they do have the ability to close areas if there was a catastrophic event like the rim fire….. Steve ….
Joe please post on the forum that the rumor is false but we may see closures like the ones I listed above due to high fire danger from drought conditions.
Contrary to FSD info, But, I've been out of town so haven't heard anything lately.
