Thanks again guys. I can tell you it was everything BUT fun. Racing is not riding with friends. It's expensive, scary, and it's brutal! And while you're out there, all you want is for it to be over. All you're thinking is "I'm never doing this stupid shit again, because I want to live...." But it is very addictive. I have a love/hate relationship with racing, and after every race I've ever been in I've told myself, my friends, and my family that I'd never do it again. But then a day later, you're looking for the next race. It sucks...

For training:
All about seat time, which I didn't have enough of...
Also you need to put in a bunch of gym time, which I didn't do enough of...
Helps to be healthy, which I was far from...
And your bike should be fully prepped and performing perfectly, which mine was not...
Oh, and try not to crash, which I did more times than I can count...

So there you have it. I got extremely lucky to finish where I did.

Dude wicked finish Chip! There is always more of that I should have prepped harder, longer, better bike....all crap in the end. The pic with the shity grin covered in dirt says it all, and means all you needed. Then again....chicks dig guys on podiums! Congrats on your fine finish. Next time go ride with Justin, find a cougar, and train like Rickey Bobby.

So do you move to Chicago, or train there? Or live here but be based out of Chicago? I was just thinking about your job today as I was taking care of some stuff at my parents, as they live right under a common flight path. A twin turboprop went over and I thought to myself how a decade ago, they were almost all twin turboprops, with the odd twin jet thrown in. Now the twin jets are the norm, and the props the oddballs. Well, except for the Hornets...

Congrats Matt! Come ride as much as you can before you leave!

Anyone else coming to whiskey next weekend for the stewards day? I imagine we can get some good trails in after lunch!
