Haha you know when you wear a gopro and you think you are clicking to start videos only to get home and figure out you have only been taking pictures? Yah that happened. Thought I was taking some good video also... Too bad.

hey shaun pictures are good, too bad you didnt get the one of me trying to break that granite boulder with my shoulder, looking like a dying cockroach under my bike.On a dry day we will finish the ride to tornado meadow and up camp 7 rd. thank you for pointing out that i should be standing up in the technical sections, it has been soo long since i have ridden dirt bikes, i really thought in this day and age of plush , long travel suspensions i merely had to plop my fat behind on the saddle and twist the throttle and steer. ironbasher1

Shaun, if you want to ride up here there is a place called Hites Cove that I've been meaning to try. We could meet in Oakhurst.

A couple of photos on the Buck Rock Lookout Trail ride.

Ironbasher and Coarsegoldkid

Alot of this was ridden

The Buck Rock Lookout, its WAY up there

the

Coarsegoldkid taking a breather on the way up.

I think it was listed as 178 of these on the way up

Made it

Sean trying to block the beautiful Beta twin sisters!

Was a good leisurely ride with some much needed rain and a chance for me to meet some new folks and try out my new tires and gearing.

I want to take this time to thank Coarsegoldkid(Joe), McKay(Jeff), Sfeatherstone22(Shaun) for coming all that way to ride in my neck of the woods, the route I picked was certainly close to or beyond my current riding level but certainly not any of yours, I will work to rectify that situation.I also want to thank Hesaid/Shesaid for a great second half of the ride after lunch, also thank you for stopping by the house after the ride, it was great getting to know you all a little . Next time you can come all the way up here! It's always to great to meet new riders in the general region.
Today I talked my neighbor(noob) into getting him out on his recently acquired 1998 BMW650 with only 3K miles on the clock. I got him out on a rather flat Madera lowland dirt road, Jeff knows it. We did about 20 miles of dirt and 45 miles of pavement. Noob was tired. Next I hope to get him into the mountains.

We all had a good time, some of us got a bit more exercise than others but its all in fun
I was happy to burn some fuel and see some places I've never been.
It would seem the only ones complaining about the route were not even present.
Im up to do it again.

Hey Joe,
word of caution on Hites Cove, if it is the road I am thinking of, (end of Jerseydale?) that road is epic, I went down a way and it got steeper and steeper and steeper and looser and I was alone. I was able to get it turned around and get out but I have heard folks have spent the night(s) down there! If it is the one I speak of it looks like it might go all the way to 140 but I have been told that is not the case. I even had a friend get his jeep stuck down there years ago.
but if you pull it off...

Thanks Bruce. That's the one. I watched a video and thought it would be a good one to ride based on what I watched. It didn't seem too bad but does have a rep. Video can be deceiving. Like most unknown trails I won't do it alone. Too old and wise for that.

Hites cove does not cross the river its a dead end.. a good one though. Funny you say it looks like it crosses .. seems GPS think the same. I have seen a rental car about 3/4 of the way down TRASHED. May be tough on a 950 or a big beemer but will worth the try . I wanted to do a camp out/fishing trip at the bottom this year but the water was not flowing. Now it may be a destination in the next few months before they close the gate.

Stock lighting is just fine, we ride by "feel".
