Nice pics Joe, could you see any evidence of the fire from the lookout or the way in or out?

I didn't see any evidence of fire. I was offered a beer by John in the tower. He was heading to the low lands on Saturday.
One can see Shaver Lake, Bass Lake, and a dry Mammoth Pools from up there. Also Pilot Peak Lookout up near the Miami riding area. I want to get up there too soon. I'd go up to Star Lakes tomorrow but I need to get a number of chores done in prep for Tuesday and Wednesday riding. Have great time JP.

Mike, try a third guess. How about JPaccassi's newest adventure location on the Kings River.

third location

Thats where I would have figured based on the context of the conversation. As a former rock and frozen waterfall climber, parachutist I can tell you your friends will always blame somebody getting hurt or killed on the persons stupidity all the while telling themselves , they are too careful or skilled for that to happen to themselves, just a coping mechanism really, and time to reflect that all this outdoor stuff could realistically maim or kill ya, but do you really want to die on the couch of clogged arteries, I didnt think so. ironbasher1

That sucks, hope it wasn't too bad. The rocks are slick as hell, that could be anyone at anytime regardless of skills or experience.

A group that was right behind us had a friend get injured on the first jump, but he was able to get out of the canyon & make it to his vehicle. One of the problems is that some people try to circumvent the 51ft jump my climbing down lower on some rocks below the cliff, but it's at an extreme angle & slick so they end up falling off instead of jumping......I say forget trying to make the jump 10-15 ft shorter and have sure footing instead..but that's just me. To each their own
