Bitterroot to the Big Hole
ShadyWife decided to do some shopping in Missoula today, without towing a husband around. I agreed with little reluctance and told her I was heading out on the bike for a few hours. Headed south out of Hamilton with a rough plan in mind.
Como Peaks have pretty good snow still for August 1st.
Rolled on through Darby
Stopped for a picture of Trapper Peak
Went on down past Smut Warren's place. This place used to be a regular Lewis and Clark diarama with cutouts of indians etc. Smut is pretty old and I think living in Hamilton now. He was one of Marilyn Monroe's bodyguards. Pretty colorful past that fella has.
Wooden bridges are cool
Now I'm above 93, below is the base of Lost Trail Pass, and I'm heading over Gibbons Pass.
Pretty neat up there
Through many various burns
Took a break and splashed in cool creek water, rested in the shade.
Heading towards the Big Hole there are large high meadows
Took a right just before Wisdom and headed along Gibbonsville Road
Looped around back to 43 and Chief Joseph pass, gas hit reserve way up there!
Made it to 93 and down the hill to Sula, gassed up and rolled back up the Bitterroot, hot day down in the valley but nice ride up in the high elevations.

Bringing back some memories - fished lake Mussigbrod (not too far from Wisdom) for grayling back around '80. Would love to go back and ride the area.
Nice shots, thanks!

Some time ago.
My parents had a place for years at the end of the paved road on the East Fork in Sula. When the post office was in the Sula store all of the keys to the boxes hung on the back of the door. If you couldn't make it to the post you could have your neighbor pick it up. I spent some great times riding and fishing up there. Sula Rocks!
I also remember this really cute gal that worked at the ice cream store in Hamilton....I wonder.
