This last bike was really well done, but the faux "manx" flyscreen with inlaid headlights really made me cringe

First off, that Duc single is BEAUTIFUL!

To answer your ? about the TR1, here's some basic info. They were sold is the US as the Yamaha XV920RJ or XV920RH. There were minor differences betwen the US and UK market bikes, the main being the seat/tail. The used the Virago engine with an enclosed chain drive. Here is a pic of a stock UK style TR1, followed by a pic of another in US market trim:

Here is one of the best website for info on the bike: http://www.tr1.de/

And another cool cafe Yamaha:

Thanks Chuck!!

I've always thought that the first generation Virago would make a nice cafe bike. They've been raced in the past with some success. Hmmmmm........maybe a cafe/AHRMA bike is in my future.

The difference is, the Virago is shaft drive, and the RH/RJ/TR1 is chain drive. They can be found, sometimes for cheap, so you may be better holding out for one of those instead of a Virago.

Wow, that picture doesn't do the ACME bike justice. A couple of years ago they had an RC51 and a Duc 998 powered one (IIRC) at the Las Vegas Motorcycle auction and they were both orgasmic.

A Hillman Imp for those who have never seen one, powered by a version of the revered coventry climax engine.
