Here'in USA, shouldn't it be "Restaurant" or "Diner"?

Poser.

That irritates me as much as "live to ride, ride to live" logos on the bike that only sees 2k miles a year and spend Sat nights parked in front of local Hooters for the "Bike Night".

there.....short rant over.
Man... you worry too much. While I agree with your general sentiments it's really not worth getting worked up about. There will always be cultural "touchstones" that people identify with even though they have no idea about the history or meaning behind it. It's nothing new. They like it cause they think its cool or the think it makes them at least "look" cool. The "Che Guevera" T-shirts come to mind for instance. "Real" bikers know who they are and shouldn't sweat the samll stuff.

Take a time out and go for a ride Peace...

Cafe racers

If you want to see a couple more, click on the Buell (American) and the SV650 (Japanese) and there are cafe/streetfighter bikes. I think the modern street fighter bikes are kinda like the old cafe racers myself, although nothing looks as good as a hand hammered aluminum tank sitting over a twin :)

I think it was the ultimate F-you to Honda from Jesse. They wanted another VTX chopper type bike and he took their money and built a cafe racer.

I don't know if this qualifies as a "Cafe Racer" but I love it.

Not mine.

I got it off the site Idragaknee linked on Post # 210.

I only dream about one day building/owning bikes like these. It's largely a space issue because older "donor" bikes can be picked up quite cheaply and I believe the fun factor need not be $$$-dependent.

It is a beautifull bike, but that red engine looks like a picture of some malignant growth taken with an endoscope.

It has torque cones and small baffles inside the pipes. It still makes some good noise.
Donor bikes WERE cheap a couple of years ago. Now a good gas tank costs what I was buying complete bikes for, at least by Fleabay prices.

Check out the black SV650 under the link of Japanese bikes and the Buell(www.2wheelconnection.com). I liked building and riding these a lot. The SV survived Katrina. The guy I sold it to loaded his computer and the SV right before the big one and headed out.
