RD08 question

Is that adjustment screw or some kind of a plug in the clutch cover of an RD08 Dominator? I haven't got a manual for my model, and the one manual which seems to be around the web displays only the earlier models, which have no plug in their clutch covers.

What is it Worth?

Well my new BMW 800GS arrived on Wednesday so the old NX is now in search of a new home. The misses said I can't just give it to the brother so I have to sell it. I have in mind some thoughts on what to ask, but just thought I would ask the crowed to make sure I am in the right ball park.

1988 Honda NX650 16,8XX original miles
Tires have approx 50% wear (Kenda 761 Front/Rear http://www.denniskirk.com/denniskirk/b2c/product_images/k/7/6/600pix/k761.jpg )
New sprockets front/rear & chain all replaced Jan 08 @ 15K
Recent full oil change including cleaned internal screen (there was nothing in it) and oil filter.
All plastics in fair to good shape. No major cracks or damage. Some repairs to backside of plastics. Minor adjustments were made to accommodate the Acerbis tank but will fit and look perfect on original tank.
Some bolts replaced on engine with stainless steel (oil filter cover)

Add ons
21 liter Acerbis fuel tank
Auxiliary 55W dual yellow driving lights. Wired to turn off we key is turned off.
Hepco Becker engine guards
Acerbis Rally Pro ‘style’ hand guards (not Acerbis)
Aluminum cliff cut style panniers with matching locks (similar to Happy Trails)
Panniers have custom made racks
Homemade attachment system similar to Touratech
Custom made rear carrier (they were standard on the 1989)
Recovered seat

Original
Fuel Tank
Passenger Pegs

What does it Need
Really nothing but if I were going to make the next change it would be to replace/upgrade the suspension. It’s not necessary as the bike is completely usable and a lighter rider would not have any issues. But then again what bike this old couldn’t benefit from a shock upgrade.
Progressive front fork springs ($100)
New rear shock or rebuilt. ($200-600)

Since your fishing I'll give you $500 and come ride it home.
Somehow I don't think this is E bay though.

I'll bid $600

Honestly you're dealing with a nitch market with the NX. I bet you could get as much as $2600 for that bike, but it might take a while to find the right buyer (maybe 6 months). I'm guess you'd sell it in a week or two listed at $1800. Good luck.

something else to note is you'll get more money if you remove all the accessories and sell them separate. Nice bike accessories can get decent prices on eBay and everyone seems to want to customize their bike themselves. I haven't found that fully farkled bikes get much more money than stock ones.

Good feedback and exactly what I was thinking but just want to make sure I was not just hitting the Dominator Kool Aide too hard. I was hoping not to seperate everything out, but that is maybe what I will have to do. Right now I have it offered out to my Bro at a very low price. If he passes, I will be selling outright. I won't wait around too long either. FYI for those that may be interested the bike is located in Portland Or. Look for official posting in the flea market next week.

Wow. Reality check. Pablo hit the nail on the head. You have a very well set up adventure bike better than mine even , but realize that it's 20 yrs old, and the market response will tell you what it's worth. Right on with the kool-aid; the NX is a GREAT commuter and light adv bike, but the reality is that it's a 1988 single cylinder non-collectible (so far). I hope you sell it to a niche buyer!

(I'm interested in the rack/bags/lights if you do separate)

Wish you were closer. I kick myself for not buying one that was a couple of hours away instead of the choice I made. I have always liked the NX. Someday.....

damn spark plug

Hi all, mine is pretty frozen in there and my setup of spark plug socket, 1" extension, swivel, and ratchet wrench isn't working (today). Geez if that location isn't the worst I've seen with the plug right behind the downtube and the space around the plug is very tight. It's just that *today* my socket isn't grabbing the plug. (!) What setup/combination do you all use?
