Because this forum has been a big help already I've go another issue I wanted to see if you guys could help with. I'm looking for a wiring diagram for my 88 NX650- I've found two online. One was in German. The other was not legible. Does anybody have one for me to see. Thanks again.

This is what I use: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...eat=directlink

It's for the early 88-91 bikes, which have diodes in the fusebox instead of on the main harness.

It's annoying as hell to interpret wire colors due to crappy quality, but I've managed just fine. Remember there's a zoom-in button in the upper right that puts the image in fullscreen and in that flash applet you can use the mouse wheel to zoom in to full size.

Hope this helps!

any suggestion would help... thanks for the help....
I knew I forgot something but the damn pageflip made me forget

1995 is a year with both RD02 and RD08 model codes (depends if pre-september or post-september; or something).

So, restricted NX. If it's an RD08 (model code), you can check the frame number:
- if ZDCRD08A..... it's unrestricted
- if ZDCRD08B..... it's restricted

If you have an early RD02 model... I don't remember the connection with the VIN. There is one but I just don't know.

Aftermarket mixture screw

Hi fellow dommi owners :)
I've got a red 95. Good bike.

Can you help me find an aftermarket mixture screw?
Know if those two on top of the page will fit?

Thanks, Ronny.

Hi guys,
Back to the same issue, bike was running fine, put it away for a couple weeks and then no start, no spark.

I have:
- replaced the ignition coil with new
- replaced the spark plug boot with new
- replaced the spark plug with new

I am still not getting any spark!

Ideas?

I have a new pulse generator but I have not installed it yet as it requires opening the case and I just need a block of time to dedicate to it.

A few people have mentioned checking resistances in several places. Any one have or feel like walking through a step-by-step?

In addition to it all I now have a new funky issue.
After replacing the ignition coil I put the fuel tank back on and opened the petcock. Fuel bagan spilling out of the overflow tube from the carb but the bleeder screw on the carb bowl was closed. I think I have a float issue in the carb.

Thanks for all the help!!
Brian

Exhaust valve seat came loose, sucked the valve down in...

New parts will have to be machined. Hopefully, that will be the last of the problems.

I helped a fella a few months ago with a XR650l (same engine) that his engine dropped a valve seat. Upon inspection his cylinder head was all cracked to hell and the piston was severely damaged. Time for a new piston and a replacement head. Hope you have better results. When you get it all back together you might think about jetting the carb a bit richer as the OE specs are quite lean = HOT running.

I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago, took the bike out of the shed and rode it to the petrol station, after filling it I noticed fuel pouring out of the overflow all over the forecourt!
Tap the float bowl with the handle end of a screwdriver, that usually shocks the valve free and stops the fuel getting away.

Thanks
I will try that.
Sooner than later I'll need to dig in there and service the carb though.

If you can find some place that has an ultrasonic cleaner, I would break it down and give the big bits to them to stick in a cleaner for a while.
It will get all the crap out of the carb, varnish and stuff thats hidden inside unaccessible passageways.
I put a German carb on my NX to replace the CA issue one that gave endless trouble, after 60 miles a bit of varnish blocked the main jet and caused very poor running/almost needing to be recovered.
I wish I'd cleaned it out in a proper machine before I fitted it.

A couple of weeks ago I installed the Hepco & Becker pannier racks and top rack along with a 42L HB Gobi top case and some Any Strapz Expedition panniers.

Over this past weekend I installed the Hepco & Becker engine guards.

I sourced everything through Eurotech Motor Sports, they receive frequent shipments from Hepco & Becker so if they don't have it in stock it doesn't take long to get it from Germany.

I ran into the same issues with the engine guards, the supplied U-bolt bracket did not fit and the right side guard needed some persuasion to line up.

At first I ground the supplied U-Bolt down in order to clear the Oil line on the back of the down-tube but it then turned out to be too short. My solution was to take a few inches of 1" x 1/8" steel bar stock, drill a couple of holes, square them off and add a couple of 3" carriage bolts with nylocks.

Brian
FYI-Eurotech is closing.

Frames defenetly different. Should fit, but mountings might need some convincing/fiddling.
