Take that lock nut off the valve stem or back it up to the cap.

Why? Will it cause a leak at the stem?

If the tube moves at all it will rip the valve stem out of the tube, backing it off allows a little movement in the stem.

You'd have made that if you had proper knobbies.
Its always going to be hard going on a heavy bike with semi-trail tyres on that kind of wet ground.
Was there any damage to the bike or you?

Why is that bank there anyways, is it to stop joyriders driving cars down there and burning then out?

I got off with a few sore muscles and some pride hurt.
The bike faired out perfect to be honest!
Not a scratch.

Yep need a new set of Tyres on her, can't decide between Metzler saharas or something like Mitas like the fellow above.

Looks like it was dug out recently to stop people stealing turf.
It's was very wet at the lowest section.
We may have to meet up Bounder and give the bikes a run.

You doing the Paddy Dakar this year? Still entries left as far as I know.

If your valve lock nut is tight and the tyre slips around the rim, the force will rip/pull the valve out of the tube.
This is a big problem if you don't have a spare tube as you cannot fix it.
So leave the lock nut loose so if the tyre slips the valve will tilt giving you warning to let the pressure down and reposition the tyre.

Great result, I haven't thought about doing anything but getting mine back on the road.
I just got the forks back yesterday from the engineer who has made a bracket to fit my Brembo caliper to the 320mm disc.
I needed to mount them up to see if the setup needs any adjustment but haven't had time with work ...

ou that, yea thanks for advice. I will have to buy a I dont know the correct pronounce, its a piece rubber that goes in the rim, on opposite side of the valve and don't allow tube to rip the valve. there is a hole for it.
