In medium corners it feels just like a true sports-bike and really tight corners even better. The front rim is a stock rear rim +$70 spokes from Buchanan. The rear is a $60 Ebayer + spokes. With sticky radial tires it is a lot of fun. The big surprise for me is it actually works off road....not so much in soft sand or mud but everything else is better than with the stock tires. |

Here's mine
$600 not running, no title. But it came with a box of extra parts
Then it turned out to be stolen but the owner never reported it so doing the VIN check was worthless. Anyway the owner gave it to me and I've done a little work on it since. ![]()

Saw my Nixie back in 98-99, sitting in a friends garage in CA, dried up tires and a fat layer of dust. After prodding a few times he didn't seem interested in selling. A long while later, 2008, a friend mentions he bought Nixie, recalls my interest and is wondering if I'd like to pick up the tab. I jumped on the deal and dove in.
Almost exactly 1 week later while enjoying every sweet mile, young lass on the cell blows a stopsign and I t-bone her, at least I think so. Bike and I show signs that while flat on the ground with me half underneath, her tire drove over the triple clamp area. Young lass driving a 2006 Jeep while living in the housing projects. Still fighting the insurance, heh, I must be 8k in the hole by now and a few weeks ago was the 1 yr anniv. Searched for months and months to round up all the parts, got the last headlight from the warehouse in Japan allegedly. Fitted her up with Dunlop 606's and they hook pretty good all around though I need to give the carb a serious checkup. What a great bike though. Questions: I need an axle, will an XR250 axle fit? Also, looking at EBC's site, it shares a rotor with the XR650L. Has anyone swapped the rear to the euro disc brake? would that be XR parts as well? I have one as well here in the Springs Pablo83.
Is yours a runner yet? Let me know if it is and if so a few guys I know went last weekend for a little trip up Goldcamp, down Shelf to Canyon City, back up Phantom and then back on Goldcamp. Very nice ride, took about 4 easy hours. See you around Assfault

I've done Goldcamp on the NX a couple if times and it was a lot of fun. I'd love to get down Shelf and Phantom as well. I'll be in touch when she's running again. There's another guy on this board (RaceTwins) who has an NX and he lives in Woodland Park as well. We'll have to get together some time.

Nx?
Can you guys help me out? I am going to look at an 88 NX650 tommorow (I just sold my wonderful DRZ) and I had some questions..
I just moved back to the flatlands of NC, and the bike I have been riding is more of a woods machine. I sold it last night, and I was looking to find something inexpensive that would work for commuting and occassional dirt rides (nothing super advanced) I found an NX650, but I am not really sure what to offer the guy (it has 30k + miles but looks perfect) for it, and I am not sure if it is really what I need. I was looking for something a little newer, but the bike does look awesome, and I have read alot of good things about them so far. How do they compare to the more modern 600s.. (DR650.. KLR.. 2000ish)? Is it expensive to convert the rear drum to disk brakes? What is this bike worth? Thanks in advance! JJ |

Offer him $100. I doubt he'll take it, but it's worth a try. Blue book values on this bike aren't very acurate because they're a bit rare in the US. They're roughly worth the same as an older XR650L. $1400 would be a steal for an NX in good shape. Most likely you'll end up paying around $1800 and a mint one would be worth $2400 (at least in my neck of the woods). The NX sounds perfect for what you want to do. It can be said that an NX is a slightly more street oriented version of the XR650L. It has the same engine. 2nd gear is slightly lower than the XR, but the others are all the same. Here are some specs:
rear disk brake conversion is easy if you can find an '87-'90 CBR600F Hurricane parts bike and you know a half decent welder. If I did it then so can you: ![]() Now this NX has seen a lot of modification, so yours won't look like this.
