Another nice day in Oregon. The night before we discussed our options for today. We would finish section 3 at Sisters not far away. We were hoping to head east onto section 4 but were running out of days. Nobody wanted to go home, but getting home and going straight back to work without a few off days wasn't an option. So it was decided from Sisters to follow section 4 north to Culver and head home. From Culver, sec4 drops down to Prineville and then heads east to join up with section 5. We will just have to plan on coming back.
As we are getting ready to go Gordon notices his footpeg bolt had sheared off. He had some footpeg lowering plates on. Going through the rocks the day before he said he had hit pretty hard a few times. We were able to back the broken bolt out and had a spare that would work. Got a late morning start, but whatever we were going home anyway.

The lake was below the rim in the background.

We hit a short section of pavement and turned onto gravel which wound around and gave us nice views of the Sisters.

We followed lots of roads like this throughout the entire ride. We got into a rocky section that I questioned how far we should push it. Eventually it got better.

More views

Eventually we got to Sisters, It took longer than I thought. Saw a bunch of elk on the way into town, obviously supposed to be in there.

We were done, Sisters is a nice town but too much traffic since the last time I was there years ago. We found the route and headed north. Went through some more nice doubletrack. Basically a straight shot up to Lake Billy Chinook.

Another place in Oregon that I got to see. The ride from here was back to reality.

This is our route, sort of all over the place.

It was a fun trip, we saw alot of country and learned a few things. My only regret was not taking more pictures. We will be going back for more soon.

Hope you enjoyed
rb

Nice Report

Hey Blitz,

Nice report; thanks for taking the time write it up.

Sorry to hear about all of your guys' mechanical problems. I think you suffered through enough SNAFUs on this trip, that your next three should be smooth as silk. -Neil

Thanks.........

Drrags, yes I do have the tracks. If you want the OBDR section I used, I have the link in the first post to two sets of tracks I used. I did some editing and they worked great. I don't have access to the entire ride right now so will get to that as soon as I can.

By the way Nice Alaska report......hope to go next summer.

Hmmm... a bar named "Manly's" and two cowboys hugging that want to get you drunk... I'm thinking I'd be getting the hell out of dodge!

Great ride report! Heading to that neck of the woods tomorrow! Will stay FAR away from Manly's!!

5 year bump thats funny. I don't think it would work next month, probably will be snow in the higher elevations. maybe some of the locals will chime in.
