Well, we rolled up to the intersection and a chippie stops me and asks me if I was doing some offroading ( I was on my 525 EXC ). "Oh no sir, strictly pavement!"

No, I was good. I did, however, jump on the shoulder and throw a little roost every so often. I have already ridden most of the fireroads and trails in the area in my youth.

I got caught in something similar to this (though not as many officers) last year on my way to the Rock Store. I was deserving of a tickett since I was doing 75, just having passed a slow truck with trailer, on Mulholland Hwy in a 55 zone. Surprisingly, the officer was WAY TOO COOL and started talking to me about my bike, my gear, etc. finally ending with "you don't seem like the type we're up here for ... keep it slower and i'll let you off with a warning." I couldn't believe it. Of course, that was my once in my lifetime free-be and it will never happen again.

Imagine a vast open space with paved and unpaved roads at your calling ... and send me a PM if you want to meet up in the Sawtooth Wilderness at the BMW Stanley Stomp ( http://www.idahobmwriders.com/stanleystomp.html ) !!!!! ;-)

Take care,
-Heado

Every once in a while they have to do something to justify their exsistence and present a show of force. Like not to long ago a huge group of bikers practically shut down a freeway, a few weeks later (not while, they were shutting down the freeway, even the 1 chippy who was on the freeway at the time said he didnt see any crimes being committed, yeah hard to see the 100+ bikers on the freeway doing wheelies, blocking traffic when your passed out in a donut hole coma) the CHP was out writing citations at popular bike hangouts/towing bikes etc... I wont get started on how largely innefectual law enforcement is. (being almost totally reaction based, even the honest cops will tell you they cant really do anything until after the fact) Especially the CHP, normally they decide to get all proactive when review/grant time comes around. Or when they get tired of hearing people complain (usually after 3-400 complaints and 6-8 months later)

I don't think they have crystal balls

Where did the biker thing take place? That would have pissed me off if I was stuck in traffic!

Yeah, maybe they could ticket or arrest people once in a while before they commit any crime just as a reminder, that way it wouldn't seem so reactionary

Except for the Berryessa sweep which they do every early summer, these step-up programs are the result of a no-tolerance order that issued from the Gov's office recently. Although you have seen the moto cleanup crews they are also enforcing on the raceway portions of the major roads, such as near Gorman on 5, Lincoln/Penryn on 80, Vacaville 80, and other fave places.

This too shall pass. With summer's end things will turn to other pursuits.

Be careful out there.

They harass people who are minding their own business in order to scare away everyone who doesn't want to deal with the shit. It works so well, they've expanded the policy to the Lucerne Valley.

SAN BERNARDINO -- County supervisors asked Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to declare a state of emergency in Lucerne Valley after water trucks supplying desert residents were impounded by the state, which said it acted after residents complained of the quality of their water. The governor's office was reviewing the request on Thursday.
The California Highway Patrol and state health officials impounded the trucks because haulers supplying eight desert communities were delivering non-potable water in unlicensed tanker trucks.
"We took action in the Lucerne Valley in response to concerns raised in the community of the quality of water there," said Suanne Buggy, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Public Health. "Our top priority is ensuring local residents have access to safe, clean water for use in their homes."
She said the agency was "taking every step available to ensure safe, clean water is available to residents immediately."
Most residents purchased the water to drink but said they didn't mind using it for showers, evaporative coolers and toilet flushing. Some have now shut off swamp coolers and stopped flushing toilets to save water.
"There's nothing wrong with the water. We got it tested years ago and it's good, clean water," said Elsie Wenger, 86, who hasn't showered in a week. "All of us who live out of town depend on these water trucks. I don't know what to do."
The health department took three water tankers off the road during a sting operation last week, citing each for being unlicensed and unsanitary. Two trucks were impounded by CHP officers because drivers lacked the proper drivers' licenses and permits, and a third tanker was ordered out of service for mechanical reasons.
Schwarzenegger ordered state agencies to send four water tankers to the Lucerne Valley, and Cal Fire trucks were making deliveries on Thursday, governor's office spokesman Bill Maile said.
Maile said the governor's office was reviewing the local state of emergency declaration sought by the Board of Supervisors.
County fire trucks began delivering non-potable water for livestock on Wednesday. The county Department of Aging and Adult Services also started contacting elderly and disabled adults, delivering bottled water to at least five households.

Cops at rock store

Maybe the cops at the Rock Store will stop the stupid morons who ride at breakneck speeds, strafe cars and willfully transgress any and every law of the highway, just because they are using a motorized vehicle with two wheels, or have a 'Fast and Furious' decked out car. Dicks think because they have a such a vehicle the laws don't apply to them and then cry and berate cops, dumb shits. A track day is not much more than $100, that's all $100! The creeps, morons, dumb shits and Dicks should go to track day, then we'll see how woefully dickless and spineless they actually are when it comes to going fast. I'm all for having fun in my cars and on my bikes, but listen boys and girls, you HAVE to abide by the law, is there something wrong with this picture? Four words to live by my beloved children.......TAKE IT OFF ROAD

I came across this earlier today.

http://www.malibusurfsidenews.com/bl...e-canyons.html

Supposedly, the increased presence of LEO's in the vicinity of The Rock Store is a result of two cagers racing in the vicinity of The Rock Store, taking both lanes.
