looking at a photo of the first part of Mr Funks rescue when we pushed him across the creek.

His tires do look up to the task.
I was confused seeing everyone's tire problems, my bad.
Did anyone make it up Silver canyon on a big GS my hats off to those that did.

Hey Gillafunk,
That little video clip shows me that it's time to sell the GS and buy a KLR.

I really hope that it didin't cost a fortune to get the bike fixed..............

Its ON next year! Stream or no stream. Im already set to fabricate a stream fording snorkel for "Adventures" like this!

THe bike is at Michaels Motorsports, and Michael already had it stripped down and he found:
Broken Rings (uh....piston rings? I dont know)
20 broken or bent teeth on the fly wheel (I guess the starter is VERY STRONG!)
time to replace the clutch (bike has 84k miles)
water softened the carbon deposits on the inside of the engine

Soo..its notthing really at all. Somewhere around $1K, especially if we can get me a used fly wheel. So it lookes like I lucked out!

Im behind having to replace the flywheel and rings, but while is torn down a new clutch brings me ahead! Now I wont have to worry about THAT going out in the future!

Im just glad MotoTaur was able to get me home

I should be back on 2 wheels in the next week or 2!

You were well prepared for the worst... great news indeed!!

The snorkel would be great. You can never can predict the absolutes of a water crossing...

Your incident was also a great reminder to me. If you stall coming out of water -- even if you think it was your fault and not the water -- stop and check the airbox (and then the cylinders if evidence warrants). Don't try to restart. What a hassle... but...

=====

Does anyone remember the exact number of water crossings? I think you might be surprised if you didn't keep count...

You have no idea.

RR's campfires alone were right out of outdoor magazine.

If you ever have a chance to camp with RiverRat do not pass on the chance.

"To low to find my way too high to wonder why."

I laughed so hard Saturday night my sides hurt the next day.

A few more tidbits from the campfire:
--caveman's shoes
--feels like sandpaper
--licorice
--D.J. Millhouse
--think of cows
--fireside ejection seat

Glad to hear that it's not really too bad, considering.

$1K is half of a nice, used, farkled KLR...........no snorkel required.
