To the End of Europe with MZ ETZ 150 (north cape)

So, this is my first trip report.

It's about my Scandinavia-Tour that I finished one week before.
My bike is a 22yo MZ ETZ 150, pure two stroke power. (no, not really ... 20hp thanks of some ... erm .. improvements. )

Everybody said that I must be a little bit crazy or insane or something to start a tour like this with that old bike and alone.
Well, but I'm not quite normal.

This is the planned tour

After packing all stuff, my bike looked like this

The first pictures were taken in South Sweden. Bad weather, really.

This is Ales Stenar, some mystical place of the vikings...

You need to get a picture whit the elk-sign when you are entering Sweden

The first camp. And more rain.
The next day I woke up, my tent turned into a swimming pool. Nice start so far...

Aaah a gas station. Let's try to get some. Not.

Solitude, ease and nature. Great!

So many curves and small roads without any traffic

And dirt tracks, of course. Remember, this is South Sweden!

More dirt tracks

Visiting friends in Stockholm, the youngbikers try MZ

I staid for 4 days in Stockholm, then I left to the less populated northern part of Sweden.

Ok guys, that's it for now - I'll post some more pictures later!

In the 5th pic, your bike looks like it's on fire!

Ok, now some more pictures.

I left Stockholm into the direction of Hudiksvall.

One day, I met Nina. She was the owner of a culture yard. She said I could build my camp site there. I love the Swedish people!

On Nina's yard

These are the bikes of 4 Durchmen. I met them while I was having a cigarette break. Keep them in mind, we see them again later.

The same day, I was searching for a camp site. There was a yard with a half opened gate. That will suit. Not.

This was the first real problem, I broke my adapter for the left case. Fuck.
A farmer helped me out with a drill machine, and 30 minutes later I had the case fixed again with some cable straps.

You can fix nearly everything with these and duct tape.
I just had to repack a little bit, because I needed the case to be lighter from now on. At this moment, about 2000km were driven.

What you can find in the forest

Camp site on the lot of the friendly farmer

Somewhere around the farm - 11pm ... polar circle we're coming!

5 metres off the freeway. Nice

The only road while going north.

Loooooong.

5km to the Storforsen rapids.

Water everywhere

Amazing rainbow

The spray of the Storforsen

More water

And more ...

The rapids

The first reindeer

More pic's later...

North Sweden, today we're leaving Sweden and going to Finland

Finland -wide country, swamp and tons of mosquitos

Near the camp site

Midnight in Finland, amazing!

Very lonely area. 150km and no people. Abandoned towns. Interesting.

Last picture from Finland.

Finland wasn't really fine for me, I left after less than 24 hours. There were huge swarms of mosquitos. When I took pictures on-road, only with hemlet on and sight closed. They entered on the downside...

So we are now entering Norway. We reached the polar circle in the meantime. Instantly after the border crossing, heavy wind appeared and slowed us down to the 3rd gear, on the way down the mountain!

Pretty hard day for us, but beautiful countryside!
(when you see something's blurred on the pictures - that's two stroke oil on the lens. Sorry ;) )

Driving to Kautokeino

Somewhere next to the first camp site in Norway

Very far in the north now. just 100 kilometers to the north cape

The Nordkap tunnel, 8km - 212m below zero.

We did it! The north cape is reached. Bike and driver are happy.

On the North Cape, I met the Dutchmen again. We reached at the same time. I am as fast as with a big bike. Very nice! The weather up there was unbelievable. We had storm up there, some drivers were just swept from their bikes by squalls while driving.

Until now, we did 3564 kilometres in 12 days...

After reaching the North Cape, my way is leading me now to South-Norway.

Some more pictures from Mageroya

The way to Alta, through the high plateau

Crazy roads!

Beautyful beach

Up in the mountains again

Fjords

Enjoying the fresh air

In the nearby of Tromso

Yeah!

Everywhere mountains. The different shapes are amazing.

More curves - 100km road with no traffic!

We are now about to enter the Lofotes. This is in the polar circle... 25°C

Beach

Clouds are hanging in the mountains

More beach the next day. Now with sun!

Leaving the Lofotes now... let's go to Fauske

In Fauske I needed a new rear tyre. Hard to find size. At least found a fitting one.

Entering a high plateau

Leaving the polar circle...

Just beautyful

curves

and mountains ...

Short before Trondheim

Storforsen

After Trondheim my camera broke down. So no pictures from South-Norway.

My MZ was driving properly the whole trip, just one new spark was needed.
After 23 days and 7566 kilometers we arrived back in Germany.

Crazy trip!

My camera decided in Germany to work well for one last photo ...

boring German freeway

Hope you enjoyed my report!

Yeah, pretty nice bike for this trip.

The speed fits perfectly to the regulations up there, and it's damn comfortable. The last day 750km from Denmark to home. No problems after all.

By the way, I used 9 litres of two-stroke oil, so about 450l of gas for the whole trip. Global warming I'm coming!

So, I took a look at the picture folder...

Some more pictures of Sweden:

The first day with no good weather at all

Yeah. Gas stations in South-Sweden ...

Wild wood grouse

Traditional snail-race at a stop There was no winner after all

The deer. It stood some meters away from my tent as I woke up. Decided to go before I got my camera ^^

Somewhere around Aspa, South-Sweden again

A lake some meters of the dirt track I was driving on. Tried a bath - and was damn cold!

Dirt tracks

Big road some 20km to Stockholm

Trip around Stockholm. Bad weather again. Did you expect something else?

Waiting for the (free!) ferry

Barbeque in Sweden

Oh yeah!

Sightseeing in Stockholm.
I met Martin a friend of mine, he is in the swedish civil defence and had to guard in front of the palace that day.

Stockholm - Gamle Stan

More of the oldest part of the city

Now going north to Sundsvall...

Found something near the road... nothing special

On Nina's yard. Pretty nice stop there.

The first lake on Nina's yard

And the second ...

Small dirt track

Going north again ...

On the lot of the farmer

At a lake. Sure, where else? ;-)

Next to my camp site

The E4. Long and boring

Arriving at the Storforsen rapids. Nice clear water.

The rapids. So huge!

The camp site at the rapids

That's it for now... I'll go get some sleep...

Und Grüße zurück in den Schwarzwald. :-)
