KLR 650 Corbin Seat

Has anybody out there bought the KLR 650 Corbin Seat from Happy Trails? I just bought a KLR and find myself on my tippy toes at stop signs/lights. Happy Trails says the seat lowers the bike and from the photo it looks like it may, but before I drop the money on the seat, I would like to have some input. Thanks.

I've got a neighbor with a Corbin on his KLR. He definitely likes it better than the stock seat for comfort (not sure how much lower it is, however). He only complains that the Corbin has a slight downward tilt to it, that causes him to slide toward the tank.

I have a KLR 650. I had an '01 now have a '08. I have a Corbin Flat and even though the seat is about an inch lower it is wider than stock. This makes you spread your leggs a little an makes it even harder to reach the ground. I do recommend a Corbin because of the comfort level for longer rides. You might consider lowering links. I was going to lower mine because I am 5' 9" and had trouble reaching the ground but just got used to it after time.

Corbin seat is best investment I ever made for the KLR 650. Mine is the flat and I am tip toeing when at stop but as Phone Guy I got use to it and do ok now. :)
My neighbor had one the Corbin dished seats and he got rid of it and got a flat one. He complained of sliding forward to much with it. :)

There's a guy currently looking to trade his Corbin for a stock seat, which he found more comfortable. I never wanted anything other than the OEM saddle, which I liked.

Lowering links and sliding the forks up a bit will directly address your concern much more economically. If you're happy with the comfort of the OEM seat and are just trying to get your feet closer to the ground, you might also consider having a local upholstery shop cut the thing down for you. That would likely be much cheaper than the Corbin.

I just installed a Corbin on my 08 and it is a vast improvement over the orginal. It also lowered height of the bike by about 2 inches. Arrowhead motorsports is really good to deal with, check them out.

If you want a seat with comfort try the Russell Day Long Saddles they are worth their weight in gold!! You can right all day with little fatigue!

I'm 5'8" with about a 29" inseam. The Corbin dual platform works great for me . I'll try to post a pic when I'm not on my iPhone. Haven't figured that out yet. I ordered mine directly from Corbin. Though I have ordered several things tom HT and have been very happy with the service.

I tried a Corbin Flat on a KLR and found it to be too wide for standing on the pegs comfortably. I consider the Corbin to be comfortable, but not ergonomic. So I had a Renazco custom built. I now have a comfortable AND ergonomic seat that is custom designed for my needs, and it was cheaper than the Corbin.

You may want to consider this.

I have a Corbin flat saddle on my KLR. It is substantially more comfortable than the stock seat. I've found that Corbin saddles, in general, work well for me. If available, I much prefer to buy a good used seat. But I've purchased several new saddles and have had good results.

All of my new saddles were purchased from Corbin. The used saddles were purchased from a variety of motorcycle shops.

A vertically challenged friend of mine investigated several options for his KLR650 and ended up with a Sargent seat. He's very happy with the lowering effect and the comfort.

I have the Corbin dished seat on my 02 and that thing is a medieval torture device. It does get me lower to the ground, which is what I was after, but the shape of it and the sloping down towards the tank sucks. I'm in a constant state of pushing myself back which is tiring and grabbing a handful of front brake jams the boys right into the tank. And that downward angle makes for a pretty sore tailbone after about 200 miles.

A Corbin dished seat will work to get your feet on the ground, but I would disagree that it is more comfortable than a stock seat. Both seats suck, but for different reasons. Notice that most people in this thread are talking about how comfortable the flat seat is? I didn't see anyone talking about how comfortable the dished seat is.
