A beautiful ride report! Thank you very much for posting the pics and commentary.
I do have a silly question. Is Comet a long haired Jack Russell Terrier? Maybe part JRT? The coloring, cropped tail, and size all look JRT-ish. But the nose doesn't seem quite the same. You don't see many long-haired JRT's, so I thought I'd ask.

I am really glad to be able to share so much with so many.
Yes, Comet is a rough coat Jack Russell. Before him I didn't know there's rough coat, broken coat, and smooth coat JR's. I really lucked out with his disposition. He loves everyone and everything. How he and I came together's an intersting story too as he was a "rescued" dog. He's my little buddy. On a funny side note, one of my favorite children's books when I was growing up was Margret Wise Brown's 'The Sailor Dog'. Comet is a spittin image of Scuppers the sailor dog in that book! And wouldn't you know it, Comet LOVES the water! Too cool. Mark H.

Hi Mark,
Bill and I got to read about the trip to Metlakatla tonight. The photos were MOST excellent. Really interesting. It's cool that Comet gets to participate in your trips. Thanks for putting the show together for all of us. Sarah |

This is a great report! I'd never heard of the reservation there, so thanks for "taking us there"

Great report. I was actually working on that road way back in 2004. I agree that is going to be and has been very dangerous. It is great to see pictures from Annette Island and Metlakatla. I had a blast while I was there. Ketchikan and the surrounding area is still my favorite place out of all of Alaska.

This has been a tremendous exploration of a place i'd never heard of, Annette Island, and I really enjoyed the view inside a fascinating life in a wonderful place. Besides, riding a Ducati of all things is just weird and adds to the joie de vivre. There are enough GSs in rugged places already.

A great report! Your dog seems to like everything, I need to find me a dog like that. We have a smooth coat JRT, but she's crazy!! She has so much energy she just can't stop running around like a maniac.
Oh and, the Duc, it's looking great.
