Need Help with Rear Wheel Removal on 1100 V-Star

Hi!

How do you get the rear wheel off the 1100 V-Star? I am putting on new tires for a lady in our Motorcycle Club and have run into a serious problem! After pulling the axle and the brake caliper the wheel could not slide over far enough to remove due to the bracket that holds the brake caliper being in the way. The only way I can see to get the bracket out is to first remove the brake disc. Is that the correct procedure? So, I begin removing the allen head bolts holding the disc on and one of the socket heads stripped out! I have not yet been successful in removing the bolt. Any ideas? Is there a better way to remove the wheel? I sure wished she had a shop manual! Thanks!

I don't know the procedure for that bike, but what if you try deflating the tire, breaking the bead with some C-clamps, then wiggling it past. That's worked for me in the past because there's a bit more you can do to move the rim around.

Are you sure you've removed everything you can from the bike to give you clearance? Can the caliper bracket be removed?

Sorry, that's all I got without seeing it.
