Well to make along story short, my bike is fixed. The welds are done, the frame is painted, all electronics have been re-soldered, the new head light has been installed and the battery relocation mod has been completed. Other than that, everything is normal. And to save you from asking the obvious, no, I did not crash, just a long standing case of tender loving abuse and too many tools on the rear sub-frame. It's a Honda XR650L, and the rear sub=-frame is subject to OUCH. Look it up if you must know. Sick bastage.

So, I'm going for a test ride Sunday morning. Fingers crossed and fully loaded. No, I can not make the full moon ride, so don't ask. At Maple Springs gate, ready to ride, 9AM. You want to go, be there, if not, stay home and surf the internet.

Pray for my bike, the paint is still wet.

He got lucky and hit some branches to stop him and the bike because the hill dropped down quite a bit farther. It was really steep. The pics never do the angle justice. Luckily between the 4 guys on bikes, we all had tow straps. We were able to tie them together and eventually get his bike back up on the road.

Yep, it was a DRZ S model. Weighed a freakin' ton! There was a truck going in the opposite direction and he tried to get around the truck on the cliff side and quickly ran out of room and went down. The guy driving the truck stopped and helped us as well.

Around 11 am- noon, and older guy on a KTM managed to fly off that rocky section between 4 corners and Modjeska. He's damn luxky he missed that large boulder. Couple of jeeps were there to save the day and winch him out. Good gear saved that man from some serious hurt. Forgot my camera, sorry, no pics.

I was up there on my WR today. Saw a guy just below 4 corners who told me about it.


That's 2 in 1 weekend.

but seriously glad everybody is ok


and i will add.....and this why when i ride solo i add a small but loud whisle to my jacket zipper or attached somewhere to my body ...should the bike and i get separarted down a hill i atleast have some way to singal that somebody is down here.

riding with a survival kit that includes a whistle, mirror(for SAR helicopter), space blanket, fire starter (flint and waxed cotton), and a first aid kit is key to any of us riding into the woods/desert/off the grid.
as well as SPOT or other electronic SAR devices.

we all joke about mishaps but these stories could've turned out way worse where someone would've needed some of these precautions. basically ride ready for the worse. being self sufficient.

My kit includes the following:

• Two tin cans and 100 feet of string. Must throw one can off the bike as I go over the side.
• A flint to light my farts to start a fire
• A picture of Jim's wife's boobs in case I'm there for a while
• A box of tissues to wipe my tears away
• Two cases of beer (I know you were all waiting for that one)
• One can of invisibility spray just in case a hungry cougar or bear comes by
• One $500 gift certificate to Happy Endings Massage parlor in Whittier to reward the person who hauls me back up.
