Hot. dusty, and the 4x4's are making the fire roads piles of loose rock. Didn't see anyone over the side this weekend and $2 bottled beer at the Silverado Cafe (including Bohemia!) life is good!

Bummer, well, at least I carry pain reliever with me to assist the injured. Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

I was coming down the mountain towards Maple Springs, when I rounded this one turn, there was a 4x4 truck broken down and blocking the trail. I almost hit it. When I looked over, there were a couple other cars and people surrounding a downed rider, he was pretty badly injured,.. No one had cell reception and I think they said he had hit the truck...so I headed down the mountain and ran into a ranger who contacted CNF... There were tons of 4x4's up there and way more rocks than I remember. Some of these trucks are flying.... Be careful up there folks.. |

Yup and that is why I do not ride the CNF very much anymore... Too many ass hats... Be it trucks or mountain bikers who do not stay on there side of the lane and then have no idea what way to move over when coming head on with somebody... I was really bummed after my last ride up there... When u do ride the CNF now a days I will prretty much only do it during "off" hours

I ride the CNF pretty much every week. Yes there are ass hats going too fast, that would be cages AND bikes. It's the reason why 2 week-ends in a row guys were off the side on granite rocks. Hikers, bikers, and cages don't seem to get this is the ONLY road on the mountain that we can legally ride. When they aren't curteous, they eat giant clouds of dust. When they are nice, I slow down and try not too kick up crap.
The rocks have been removed a few times, yet the 4x4's that hit the mountain at night really haul ass and tear up the road. Entheogen screwed with this post 05-23-2012 at 08:01 AM |

Didn't I read that he checked himself into the hospital while others were still looking for him? How badly injured was he?

Thanks Rider, was a good day. Seems many of the loose rocks were graded out again, decent conditions.

Forgive me, for I have sinned, again
My wife works for a church, the church owns a large chunk of land up the Ortega Hwy and on that land is a sizable, though be it private, campground. I am required to go camping this weekend with my family, and although I do not attend church, I am required to abide by there rules. (No drinking, smoking, swearing or screwing) Normally I would say "No Thanks" and be on my way, but once in a while you have to take one for the team. The good news is, my dear wife, who knows exactly what I think about the whole situation, has suggested that I ride my motorcycle to and from the campground, so that I am good and tired when I get there and not likely to get into any deep philosophical debates. Which leads us to the true subject of this post, Let's ride. Or, if need be, I'm going riding, with ya or without ya.
Saturday morning, Maple Springs, up to 4 Corners, screw around for a bit, head to Hell's Kitchen, have some grub and brew, and then head into the mouth of the dragon for some marshmallows and campfire singing. Who wants to ride?
