He must have really rode it. Still has a shifter, clutch lever, and a proper rear tire.

Thats the sun shining on the stained and faded seat cover too... right ! LOLOLOLOL

What about the half missing number plate on the left side... missing head pipe guard w/ bracket just hanging there... SM front fender and headlight changed out ? All this on a bike that looks barely ridden.

For over $5k I'd expect mint... with a plate... and a Scotts unit... and confidence of the history of the bike.

Don't agree with me thats fine... go buy it... I just prefer to buy well.

Thumb Orange county, city of Orange & Orange bikes.....

Enough about the POS Craiglist 525 already.....lets talk about some real orange bikes!

Back at theGrinchwerks on Sunday I find Peter with the 640 torn down to the piston and rod....

He carefully checks everything to see what parts are needed, the piston and bore look good, crank and rod, check!

nice bore, looks good for a 22000 mile virgin. the cam bearings are not so good and the main reason the bike quit running.

Grinches piston on the left, his was replaced @ 14000 miles due to running too hot. So it looks like all my 640 needs is cam bearings, valve job, cylinder cleaning, and piston & rings. It'll be ready for White Mountain in no time!

Next problem.....

Here's the brake light switch on my 525, that's why I lost the rear brake on Friday.

Easy fix here with $25.00 in parts and some brake fluid....

back in business!

anyone need a nice DR? I've got a clean one I need to get rid of.....PM me.

Thanks Peter, See you boyz on the hill......

Pete, I actually know of this guy who just bought a 500 and he doesn't ride with any safety gear other than a Penelope Pitstop helmet and goggles. He's not used to the power or performance of the bike and will most likely pile soon and need to sell the bike. I think I'll wait to see if that comes up for cheap soon.

Oh and...

You forgot the one piece of gear I wear every single day since my grandmother gave it to me when I was 17 and shipped off to serve as an airborne infantryman in the United States Army....Saint Christopher Medal around my neck...
