Well it's all locked up tight now.

Was told to turn back.

I'm headed North.

Wink

Thanks Grinch. I used to go up to skyline as a kid in high school. Kinda old like many of you. I'm 40.
Anyways I used to go up in our trucks and rigid mountain bikes. This was 89-91. To you guys that frequented that area then. Do you remember the "midget" colony houses up there? They were cottages specifically made for small people. Small doors, short roofs etc.... Abandoned way before we found it. Anybody got pics of the place? I wish we took pics. We just drank our zimas and brews there. Lol

All myths dude..............I remember going up there many times in the late 70's and early 80's to find that place as well. Also tried to find the midget colony in Huntington Beach, Laguna, and Seal Beach. All urban myths. Some people used to think that Beaks Place was a midget house back in the day because the doors and windows were small, but they were that way to keep the bears out, not for midgets.

Here's a bit from Wikipedia about the midget myth:

"A section of the book, Weird California, tells firsthand accounts of a trip to the canyon. It “tells of a group of friends who parked their car in front of the locked gate one night only to flee in terror after witnessing a procession of phantasmal dwarf like figures winding their way down the shadowy trail from the hills. Realizing that the cowled imps were marching right towards them the kids panicked, flinging their car into reverse. As they drove away they noted with growing horror that the movements of their faceless pursuers seemed to speed up as if in hot pursuit of their vehicle” [7]"

Hopefully Maple Springs opens up this week. Want to ride that main divide to the 74 for the first time this friday. Then to the kitchen for a beer and a burger.
