Anyone familiar with Horsethief trail? Looks fun
That's a hiking and MB trail. Join us on a night ride and we will show you the good stuff.

I don't trust websites.

Were there any rocks on the trail roads?

You might look at one of the new LED bulbs. Low current draw, high color temp and lotsa lumens. I have one in my 690. Big improvement over the OEM 55/60 halogen bulb.

When Chris and I went up on the June 4 ride there were no "unsafe rocks" if that is what you mean.

Most of the fire roads and especially the single track is quite rocky.
I would not attempt the s/t without a knobbie.

The condition of the fire roads would be easily traveled with a dual sport tire

eve/night ride now?

If anyone is interested in rolling up this eve I would go. I would be riding from costa mesa, so could meet anywhere between here and maple springs entrance.

Did you end up going up last night?

Some tough choices to be made tonight:

World Cup , Heat vs Spurs or ride the CNF?

I am out of inner tubes so I had to put on some really really bald trail wing tires on the rear from my other wheelset, would I still be able to make it up to the peak?

This is too great from John Oliver on FIFA:

traction wise, you will be ok IF you stay on the fire roads. The only real risk with bald tires in my opinion is they may offer little protection from sharp rocks or objects. (when roosting over your buddies bike if he falls in front of you)
LOL

Outlaws,
I have a 18" spare tube that you may have if that helps at all.

yes, lots going on tonight.
spurs/heat game, world cup, etc., but stay focussed and keep the two wheeled priorities first.

the memories made on the bike might well stay with you longer than what the other options may offer.

Honey Moon

Oh and I almost forgot,
tonight and tomorrow night are "honey moon" full moons.
I would guess there to be greater opportunity of taking in this magnificent specticle from your handlebars as compared with world cup and nba finals

here is more info on the honey moon if you are into that sort of thing.http://earthsky.org/tonight

last nights honey moon ride

Before meeting up last eve, I had half a thought to retainer some quality representation, but now this morning- am thinking more along the lines of bolstering my health coverage. I'm quite sure now that cnf rocks grow legs after dark...
great ride, good times
thanks fellas
