Wink Anyone Up For Deadhorse on Labor Day Weekend??

Checking weather poorcasts, it looks like next weekend might not be too bad, all things considered. Construction/destruction might be shut down for the holiday, and the DOT crews shouldn't be watering the road. A mite chilly, with temps below freezing predicted at night, but only partly cloudy north of Fairbanks. Thinking of trying an inaugural Haul Road 1000 - leaving North Pole around 2:00 AM Saturday hoping to return there by 2:00 AM Sunday.
Anyway, there's a brand new TKC80 needing to be mounted on the rear of the ol' Zook and broken in on some gravel, and that's one sure way of doing it. Anyone wanna show me the way?

Three weeks oughta be enough time to get up there and back.
Heading for Los Anchorage in the AM, be back Monday evening. Will contact you early next week.

Holy Moly, I really want to go.
My trip around the lesser 48 is getting so close, I don't dare ride to Deadhorse.
But it is a tough one..........

Have fun, ride smart (I know you will) and take some more of your fantastic pictures.

Just talked to a friend that works up there & he drove it a couple days ago. He says the road is really good right now & worst part is between the bridge & FBKS.

That's a mighty short window for an Anchortown working stiff. Blast oughta here at 4-5p... arrive in NP late and blast at 2a. Don't think I'll make that one but might run across you on your way back.

Or... might go to McCarthy to fart around if the weather's sweet. Need to get some pegs so the boss can come along. And a bigger tank. And bags. Aaaaaaa !

Yo Hobo... I stopped by your place on the way back from WI last Friday. Nobody home. Meant to stop by the shop but spent too much time choking down a burg at the Caribou then headed straight out.

I see what you mean about that being a tough dog. Doesn't look like the type that prefers gentle persuasion.

Hey legion, Sorry I missed you, out running around. McCarthy should be great this weekend, great eating place in Chitina and cheapest gas for 150 miles.

Thumb Done Deal

Well, we have a new inductee into the madness that is the Iron Butt Association. Hobo completed 1029 miles (by GPS) in 23 hours and 20 minutes, riding from North Pole, Alaska to Deadhorse and back to North Pole. He could have done it in less time had he not been hindered by having to assist yers truly in maintaining the auxiliary fuel system on the ol' faithful Zook.
A big round of applause for Hobo, as that ride is no mean accomplishment, especially on a KLR.
