I am certainly one really lucky girl. Not only did I survive the sand in Mozambique, but I had the opportunity to ride an R12GS in South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland. It was a trip of a life time. Combining my love of Africa with my love of riding and to enjoy both with my bestest friends in the world.

It was amazing. After several trips to South Africa, this trip left me with the impression that I had really seen it for the very first time. Words cannot describe the experience and the pictures do not do it justice. But y'all have been pm'ing me and asking..."well, where is the ride report?"

Here it is, mostly in pictures.

About time...

Hi, Grace.
Sure enjoyed the trip. I missed it till now as the only service I had in Maine was Dial-Up.
Smiles are a universal currency.
Fond memories of our get acquainted ride awhile ago.
Come see us down here sometime.

Hi Mike!

Been out of the loop for a while. Had not notice your post. Sad to see you leave the area, but as I sit freezing my butt off, I know why.

Take care and hope to see you sometime!

Great report and photos. I always try to save these reports for winter. I snagged the same photo for a desktop background as the one mentioned a page ago.

Wonderful ride report! I can't believe I missed it the first time around! Lots of your pics and statements struck a chord with me since I lived in Jo'burg for a couple of years.

That is so true. I tell people that South Africa seems so much like places in America, except for the occasional subtle reminders like the pic above. Its true in the cities, too. Modern towers, restaurants, etc..., and etc... It could be Dallas, but then you see an African woman carrying huge packages on her head, and you realize that it is different. Like no other place I've been, Africa really seeps into your soul.

I tell people that, too. Cape Town, IMHO, is the most beautiful city in the world. Just stunning.
