It'd have cost me three more days, but BigDog and I shoulda went west to the Steens. At least I have a good excuse to get back there....
Nice pics, Mike. Looks like that 990 and you are getting along well.

Thanks
Bent a front rim on this ride and had a rear flat. Both my fault, no big deal. I really like this 990 the more I ride it. The front forks are so dialed in, I can't wait to get the rear shock done.
It was a very interesting place to ride. Ton's of history and geology. The bs was pretty good too.

More pics 'till you puke
AlinBeaverton and I headed out for Fields, OR friday morning from the Portland area. This is the first pic of the day at Warm Springs, OR. No, look carefully, I am not taking a pic of Al.

More pic, part duh
The honest-to-god ghost town of Donner. This was the only house still standing, and of course it was the Mayor's house. Andy knew all about this place, so I'll let him describe it.
![]() ![]() The road to Steen's Mountain. ![]() Soon, we will be on top of that ![]() We found this poor, bedraggled soul hitchhiking, so we gave him a ride to the top of the mountain, but there was no Guru there for him. ![]() ![]() Duhhhhuuhhh, I already forgot ![]() The view from atop Steen's Mtn. ![]() ![]() If you have multiple monitors, this is a nice pic. ![]() ![]() Our host, Andy, at a lookout. ![]() Bigtime dinner here! Good company, grub and riding. Was good meet'in all'yall. What a great place to blast around on a big dualsport. Love those mountains & big spaces. Thanks for posting up the pics. Al |

Drrags and I slabed over from Portland. It was dam cold going over Mt Hood. After leaving Bend drrags now decides to strip off some layers.
![]() The funny thing was that 2 miles down the road is a nice rest area with green grass. This was our final destination. They have the best milkshakes I've ever had. Great people very friendly and helpful. We camped right next door to the store. ![]() The only picture I took during the ride. I was too busy having fun. ![]() View from a lookout point neer the top of Steens Mt. ![]() On the way home 5 of us Andy, Dave, Matt, drrags, and I took the long way home. We stopped at Calimity Lookout. ![]() Andy and Dave split off after this and the rest of us hit some more dirt on the way home. It was a great weekend and I hope to do it again next year. |

Andy, Byron, it seems you two have yet pulled off another most excellent DS adventure through the out backs of your favorite playbround, SE OR. I am so sorry I could not join you but I did have my reasons.
I do believe you met some very interesting new folks all along. Mike I told you, you would have a great time on this ride!
