Off Road in The Alps?

Will be touring the Swiss Alps/Western Dolomites next week. Anyone have any solid points for off-road routes (passes) in this area? Will be riding BMW GS lightly loaded. Thanks in advance.

Off road is absolutely forbiden in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Italy, however, is a free for all. Check out the Stella Alpina rally, 2nd Sunday in July at Bardonechia.

Not quite true! We still have plenty of legal Gravel Roads and Offroad Grounds. But we keep them secret, as we want them to ourselfs.

I know, it's a bit late... you started the thread in 2007.

But there's a fantastic guide out there. It's called DENZEL. It's in german, but has in depth details about almost all roads, gravel and dirt of the entire Alps.

Go to Sestriere,Italy then ride the Assietta. We did loops from there and rode different stuff for 5 days.

Email me, I can send you some of the more known offroad tracks we rode a few years ago near Bardonecchia.
