I am just waiting arrival of my first GPS.
It's a 60CSX. Is it possible to save more than one map on the memory card
and then choose which one it loads and uses from the unit itself or will
it default to just one map that is on the card.
I'm trying to work out whether it would be best to purchase..say.. one 4GB
card and save a few different maps on it or four 1GB cards?

This has been discussed recently in the main GPS section. First the 60 will only take up to a 2 GB card, I believe. You can get LOTS of stuff on that...including different Maps. When you are riding in different areas, you can select the map set you want to "see."
On a 2GB card, I have all of Denver West in three map sets.
City Navigator v8, Topo, and Roads and Rec, plus the base Garmin map. Basically you "hide" in the GPS, the map sets that you don't want "on"
If you are a national traveler, you may want to buy one 2GB card and two 1GB cards.
One 2GB to hold all of the US in City NAvigator 2008.
One 1GB to hold the US in Topo
One 1GB to hold the US in Roads and Rec.
You can only puit so many map sections on one card, which is why you will probably have to split Topo and R&R.
Remember, I you install a new map on a card, you will loose all the maps that you installed previously.
This should get you going. Do a little searching in the Main laying down tracks...about a month ago.
