My buddy today carried a bicycle cable lock for his helmet and jacket. Runs the cable down the jacket sleeve and thru the helmet visor. It coils up tight for storage.

Chain and lock, or topcase.

I bought a retractable cable lock [ combination so I don't have to worry about another key, set to my birthday so no matter how stupid I am, I won't forget it] at a ski shop. It was less than $20 and coils up into itself sort of like a tape measure. I just keep it in my tankbag, use it to lock up my jacket and helmet , and put the shoulder strap on the tankbag and then I only have that to carry. It would easily fit in a jacket pocket if I wasn't using the tankbag.
