G/S Ride at 25th Last Chance Rally in southern New Jersey
25th Annual Last Chance Rally
October 5, 6, 7
Shirley, New Jersey (south Jersey)
Shameless Plug for Local Rally and G/S Ride
The New Sweden BMW Riders Club with tons of support from the New
Jersey Shore BMW Riders Club is hosting the 25th Annual Last Chance
Rally in scenic southern New Jersey October 5, 6, and 7th. We've
moved the rally from the sandy and rustic Yogi Bear Jellystone
Campground of previous years to a new location. This year the Last
Chance Rally will take place at the Appel Farm and Convention Center
in Shirley, NJ. If you don't know where that is, it's just outside of
Elmer. :-) Get a map and look for the intersection of routes 40 and
77 (Pole Tavern Circle) in NJ. Elmer and Shirley are a few miles
The best part of having the rally at Appel Farm is you don't need to
lug a tent to the rally. The site has several large dormitory
buildings, normally used by summer arts/music campers. Each dorm
building is divided into a number of dorm rooms. Each dorm room has
it's own lavatory and shower facilities. Each dorm room can hold
about 8 to 10 people on the lower bunks, since, unless we get a larger
than expected turnout, we don't plan to use the upper bunks. Another
benefit of bunking in the dorm buildings is they are HEATED
and some are carpeted, too. All you need to bring to the rally is
bedding or a sleeping bag plus personal clothing and effects.
However, if you really want to sleep on the ground outside, we will
have lavatories and showers available for tent campers separately from
the dorm buildings. The dining hall is new and modern and includes a
covered outdoor patio eating area. There is also a large covered
pavilion to gather under in case it rains.
In typical Last Chance tradition, the rally will include the
G/S ride - open to rally attendees only
Field Events (tentative)
Nap Time if You Need It
Huge Dinner Banquet
Tons of Door Prizes
Awards of Distinction
Campfire (conditions permitting)
Pack up and depart
The Last Chance Rally is always a fun, well organized event with great
food , lots of door prizes, and exceptional camaraderie. Appel Farm
and Convention Center is a great venue that is light years more
accommodating than the old rally location.
If you want to see some pictures and get more info about the rally see
our rally website at:
The rally fee is as follows:
Pre-registration prior to September 15 is $65 for Friday afternoon
through Sunday morning. Sorry, there are no single day passes. The
first 100 people who pre-register by September 15 also get a 25th
Anniversary Rally theme T-shirt and a rally theme zipper pull (instead
of a rally pin and way more practical).
The rally fee at the door is $70 and if the T-shirts and pins are
exhausted by then, you don't get one. Hint: pre-register! See the
rally website for details including payment options (via snail mail or
paypal if you already have a paypal account).
Dorm rooms will not be pre-assigned. The bunks/rooms are available
on a first come first served basis but we have enough to house our
usual number of rally attendees.
See the rally website for more info and directions:
or call Nancy Glyndmyer at 856-691-6549 or 609-364-0122.
Pre-register by September 15, 2007.
Sunday October 7, the Internet BMW Riders are hosting the return of the Northeast Presidents Brunch (NEPB 2007). Local ADVRiders might remember this event when it was held in Medford New Jersey at the Flying W Airport Resort. It will now be held at DeThomasi's Five Points Inn (East) outside of Vineland, NJ. Stuff your face with all you can eat at the endless breakfast buffet for just $11.95 plus tax and tip. This is cheaper than the Flying W used to be and the food is better at the Five Points Inn. AMA Polar Bear riders know the Five Points Inn as being a motorcycle friendly destination during the winter. The Five Points Inn is located at the intersection of Landis Ave (route 540) and Tuckahoe Road (route 557) just east of Vineland, NJ.
You don't have to ride a BMW to attend the rally or the NEPB.
