So how much are those inserts with the springs??? Are they part #1009?

Does anyone have a comparison to the Cartridge Emulator?

If anyone needs or wants an emulator for the 100GS, I've got one since I don't need two. I'll just make a copy of the instructions for myself and send the whole package minus one emulator along to you.

I am very much interested in purchasing these inserts in my 92 GS
If you go to page 14 in the bike flee market and find the post by PHRED3512 you can see the adjustment knob on the top of the fork tubes, this bike has the inserts along with a lot of other good mods.
I have talked to the Marzocchi USA people and they tell me that the inserts probably come from www.Andreanigroup.com but I could not find them listed anywhere, and the Marzocchi techanical people said that they did not make the insert for our GS's and did not know if the inserts from there other forks would fit.

From the HPN conversion guide

31.1004.1 Set of damper inserts for BMW front fork optional 590,54

So 591 euros minus the 16% VAT= 452 euros * $1.47 conversion= $665.00 + shipping

What's really shocking is how quckly the dollar is sinking. Thanks GoodTill - I can see the emulators are the way for me to go at this point.

HPN aint charged my card yet , but it was around EU 335- plus around EU40- postage.

If I bought Race Techs and and aftermarket springs in Oz they would cost around the same , and I wouldnt have the ability to adjust the comp[ression and rebound damping on the move.

For the guy who asked , my F650 GS had Wirth springs in the front, with whatever grade oil they advised , and I would have used top spec synthetic which holds its grade better than dino.

I also spent a bit of time getting the rear shock set up right, again adjusting it on the fly .
Sounds like you could do with a bit more rebound damping at both ends

And I fitted radials each end , 110/90 on the front and 140/80 on the rear, Scorpion ST s I think

BeemerBoff,
Looking at your posts it looks like you were thinking about the inserts 3 months ago, How long did it take for you to receive the inserts after you ordered them from HPN ???????

HPN were avarage for shipping/Garmany/ Australia in around 3 1/2 weeks.

I took a bit of time to make up my mind before I ordered them, then they arrived right in our prime spring off road riding season and I didnt want to pull the bike apart and find I needed some other part - BMW Oz has SFA so a minor job can turn into a three week wait if Munich m/cs or Motohansa dont have what you require.
However the alternator rotor failed so it was down for a couple of days anyway.

Needent have worried - fitting was simplicity itself .

I was fitting new fork boots anyway so once the legs were off it was just a case of removing the old cap , spring and damper and then dropping the complete assembly in its place, filling it with oil, bleeding the air then pushing it back up through the yokes- I didnt even remove the handlebars.

Again for the guy who asked, someone on f650.com says the Race-Tech springs and emulators he recently installed were a tremendous improvement over the Wirth springs he had previously used.

Hpn Fork Inserts

Hey Beemerboff, I Have Been Watching This Thread With Interest And Will Probably Do The Same With My Forks. I Found The Listing On The Hpn Site But Could Not Find It In The Price List. Did You Find It Or Just Email Them Regarding Price. Do You Have A Measurement Of How Far Above The Top Of The Fork The Adjuster Is ? I Have 20mm Of Clearance Between The Clamp And The Fairing On Full Lock. Will This Clear ? Is Your Gs One With The Fairing And Roo Bar Or The Small Headlight Model ?
Cheers Phil

I emailed Klaus Pepperel at HPN , in english, and he quoted me a price , excluding sales tax and including postage.

The full price incl tax is in one of the conversion parts lists .

The caps protrude around 18 mm approx above the top of the fork , and on my 93 GS with roo bar the clutch side adjuster hits the dashboard just before full lock - the brake M/C hits the screen first on the other side ---.

Like a Ohlins they are a real step up in class over OEM - I had had the chance to dial them in even better at the weekend and they have just moved my zone of cumfort up about 10% on some of my favorite twisties , even the smoother ones.

However , I was wearing out two front tires to a rear, so maybe I was in more need of them than most.
