Nope, but provided someone (other than ohlins perpahs) makes a cartridge that has the correct OD, the rest is just parts and know-how... perhaps the limiting factor is the small OD of the G/S forks?

Bitubo makes 'em, granted they are for the F800GS and USD forks... don't know if they make kits for conventionals...

YSS are probably a better option - they do valve kits for the other airheads which dont have the Marzocci forks so small runs dont seem to be a problem for them.

Sorry, I didnt have time for a proper reply earlier. I spend a bit of time on occasions at our Ohlins dealer and while there an awesome bit of kit theyre pricey. I think about NZ$3000. The complete Ohlins Forks were over $5000 so the kit is a cheaper option. I think a list of who would be interested in a kit is a good idea. I guess knowing a price is a consideration. Am I right in saying HPN were selling theres for 585euros ?

I landed a pair in Oz for around $A570 - they dont charge the 18% sales tax and post was reasonable.

Well, I'm currently deciding what's right for my bike - GS or another front end. I'm gonna convert a road model, and if the HPN inserts can be "resurrected" I'll definitely go with the GS forks.

Fill me in: mono forks/inserts? 36mm forks as used on monolever? The ones for the monolever street bikes are shorter than the G/S, no?

Too true, just shopping if anything... my fork changes from last weekend did a real difference and I may not need to do anything drastic... but if the replacement internals are priced OK, why not do it?

Absolutely. I have still to tune my front (GS) forks but I first like to see how they perform under load. Single and unloaded, I don't have enough sag so they are a bit stiff, but not bad. I will have to take maybe 1/2in pre-load off to make it right for solo riding, but maybe it would be too soft then loaded. Do you have experience for the front forks from your GS days?

Mine worked very well.. I had a racetech emulator (1.25 turns of preload), stock springs, stick spacer cut down for the height of the racetech cartridge, and 10wt fork oil

Ah, mine's still on 2 turns (factory) with stock springs and spacer cut to length per instructions ... you couldn't have any sag, you're lighter than me if I recall (I am about about 210 give or take). I am running 7.5wt ... IIRC.

Remember the 2 turns in the instruction for the bike the 'valve was designed for... and in the case of the the ones used in the GS that would be a Harley or Metric Cruiser...

That means the 2 turns is for a heavier bike with much less suspension travel (as least I think that is what it means).... and that leads me to conclude less pre-load(and/or a softer spring) would make the 'valve work better on a GS
