Well, at least the auction is over, now. I seriously thought about pushing the blame John button. I would have, if I had known this has happened before. Somebody needs a talking to. That kind of spam is verböten, here.

I like your style

That's a good look you have going there, it makes my full loaded KLR (super bungee duffle w/ wheels) look relatively cool. A large American flag might complete the look, or maybe an air horn. Good trip, nice pics.

Alaska is waiting for you...

Hey Vermin your thread has been a great source of entertainment for me. Can’t wait to read your impressions of the “Great White North”. If you need a place to stay or a riding tour guide for AK, pm me.

Swing-a-way

As leg two of this particular ride starts to unfold I have started to procure "farkles", as my last swing-a-way can opener was run over by several thousand cars and semis I decided to address one of my design failure modes and effects (DFMEA) so I have bid on an antique wall mount version of the swing-a-way to drywall screw to my million square feet of jap ABS plastic.

I whole heartedly endorsed the swing-a-way manufacturing co product earlier in this post. I was unaware that by that time a team of high buck lawyers had helped sell it to a modern conglomerate out of Chicago. It will be interesting to see if to "remain competitive" this conglomerate will take a product that has no peer and has remained unchanged since 1954 will be cheapened to the point of uselessness like its asian competitors (perhaps to make enough profit to pay the lawyers). The founder (Swing-a-way manufacturing company founded in 1938) Idus L. Rhodes is still listed on their business week eval. as the CEO and his secretary (probably his son) is 77 years old.

http://investing.businessweek.com/re...vcapId=4424245

If this company moves its production offshore I will be crestfallen. It is almost inevitable. The reasons that will be cited will be expensive labor, onerous govenment regulation or health care cost. They will never mention lawyers mansions in Boca Raton , expensive corporate entertainment suites for the Chicago Bulls games, penthouse suites on lakeshore drive in Chicago or a taste for Mercedes Kompressor cars.

Don't get me wrong Idus L. Rhodes was probably born before they started giving world wars numbers and was proud to be an american. He built something that was superior and of great value to the burgeoning (post world war dos) middle class and I admire him for that.

There goes that Swing-A-Way sponsorship I had been hoping for. Maybe J_B Weld will still be interested.

There, I have worked myself into a DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP Sunday evening funk. Thank god they still make Budweiser in St. louis I am fixin to ""Buy American"" tonight.

Just think only 2 weeks until the 5,000 boston terrier turds in my front yard thaw and I turn 50, it don't get any better'n this.

Love vermin

Wow! Don't lose this one. My Mother had a Swing-Away mounted to the cabinet in her kitchen. It was about 55 years old when she died. One of my sisters has it now. I don't think those things will die, unless like yours, they are thrown in front of a herd of semis.

Your bike has to be at least a calendar girl, if not the spokesmodel.

Maybe you should call the Krylon folks.

Sorry about the frozen dog turd thing. It was 75 degrees here today.

I look forward to your Great White North report. My ribs should be healed up from the laughing I did at this one by then.

Dude if your sister lives in Chesaning I just bought, offa ebay, your mommas (bless her heart R.I.P) swing-a-way for $3.99 You better give your sister a call.

If my new(antique) swing away gets run over by semi's I predict I will be aproaching ambient temperature shortly thereafter.

the tension builds

The stallion quivers with anticipation as he can sense that his lord and master vermin has set the wheels in motion to free him from the stable where he has spent the winter with a gelding. The life of comfort has dulled his senses and he longs for the deserts, high plains and verdant meadows that he has felt under his masters command.

He paces nervously about the corral pawing at the ground as the stable boy grooms his nuetered friend.
