I keep expecting it to say "Transform and roll out!" This is the ONE bike that could get me back on a Jap platform.

Those grey things on the side, are those real protectors (crashpads) or just plastic?

probably just beefy plastic but the idea is solid. lay it down hard and those take the hit and can be replaced if need be. it's nicer to replace a single protector piece vrs having the whole side of the tank wacked. the best part is it gives the aftermarket a place to start to attach stronger pieces.

Question Tenere Suspension

Does anyone who has seen the bike know whether the suspension, either front or rear is adjustable and if so for rebound and dampening or will we just get stuck with only preload adjustability on the rear

I gotta say, Yamaha could really cut into KTM's buisness (Adventure 640) with that thing. If they brought that into the states I really might have to but it.

Not to put a damper on things, but from what I can tell, the sales of the lc4 in the States are minuscule.

Not much of a difference (123rpm) This is lower than a V-strom 650 which at 100km/h in 6th revs at 4607rpm.

Perhaps someone who has ridden a xt660r can comment on 5th gear cruising at highway speeds.
I have an Aprilia Pegaso Trail, which has the same motor (and I presume gearbox) as the Tenere. I can confirm that 5th is fairly tall and makes for easy touring at 130-140kmh, and it tops out around 160 kmh. There is a fair gap between 3rd and 4th gears.

The Tenere (from the pics) looks heavier than the Aprilia.

Agree.
My 2006 XT660R (same engine, almost sure the same Tenere transmision ratios) feels not too revy travelling at 140 km/h. It tops around 175-180 kmh
We can expect same figures for the Tenere.

Question What'll it be?

...so I'm going to the Seattle Int. Cycle Show this weekend.

Should I tell the Yammy guys that the interest seems merely superficial and it's just a bunch of "internet proctological buguling" ?? OR are there folks that are dead serious about ths bike like many of us were about the FJR1300???

I'll print out some of this thread for them and pics and hopefully come across Mr. Starr

I'm in to, but l live in East-Flanders (europ), so for me its no problem, but hopefully the yamiepeople bring them also to your continent.
The more they sell worldwide, the better for advtravellers and maybe more chance for nice-aftermarket development.

I'd buy one if they were offered here. I would trade my V-STrom in for it. Without a second thought.
