FIFTH FEST 6

OCTOBER 3 - 5, 2014
Bloomfield, NE

T-SHIRT ORDER HAS BEEN PLACED.

There will be a 200mile(ish) gravel, dirt, and sand route, and I have also made an ok street route for anyone that is not riding the sand. GPX HERE
Some details are at the bottom of this post!
There will be a WHOLE HOG BBQ (or at least a lot of pork on the giant smoker)
There will be plenty of BEER.
There will be a campfire.
There will be camping.
There will not be any balloons. Sorry.

The average High/Low for these dates: 70 / 43
PERFECT RIDING AND CAMPING TEMPS!!! Just bring your warm sleeping bag

Details:
I am going to open invitations up for the facebook group "Dual Sport Nebraska". I am hoping for a big turnout this year.
For everyone that's been, you know the drill...there is NO DRILL. Show up. Pitch tent. Ride, Eat, Drink, Repeat.

Friday - Show up whenever, grill will be hot. Burgers and Dogs, at your leisure.

Saturday - Breakfast - Ride the big route - BIG dinner - campfire shenanigans, including fine Circle F Homebrew!

Sunday - Breakfast - pack up at your leisure - maybe fart around a bit in the pasture (see first pic).

For those that have never been:
I like a heads up if you are coming. Maybe? Last minute? No prob. Just let me know you are intending to come so I have enough steak and beer

Price? $0.00
I do really appreciate everyone that donates to the cause! Every penny goes to my parents, since they allow me to do this, and help out cooking and all that. They are THE BEST! You'll see (no I'm not some kid throwing a kegger at his folks...ok, well, sorta)

What bike? Whatever you got!
The designed ride on Sat is nice long gravel, dirt, and sand ROAD route. There aren't any places that are single track, or crazy hard. The sand parts are generally short, and fun. ADV bikes with TKC 80's WITH skilled riders will be ok. I will ride my DRZ400, uless someone dares me to ride the 1190R (or someone needs a bike to ride)

Wait...no single track?
Well, yeah. In the past, we have done a Sunday Singletrack ride. Special access to private pasture single track goodness. Things happen, and this most likely won't take place. There is, however, a place about 30min away, that has a daily use fee, with lots of trails (ATV's are popular there) Talsma Trails I won't be going, but it's there for those interested.

Fifth Fest Fun!
This image has been selected for front page rotation!

Airplane Rides!!

Kyle is so scared of flying, he keeps his bike as close to the ground as possible (this picture never get's old!)

Saturday ride route:
https://mapsengine.google.com/map/ed...w.k4jyEMCxPQ7Y
All GPX files are here: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resi...EE907C989!1054 Same link as way up above.

Longest distance between gas stops - 130mi
First portion is 60mi, then lunch and gas in Niobrara.
Long ride from Niobrara back to Verdigre. This is 130mi total.
If you can't carry enough gas, please let me know, and we will have some gas out there along the route.
Verdigre back to the FF is 25mi (or less if you take the highway).

The entire route, if ridden completely, is about 225mi

The whole day can be shortened at any time, pretty easily. We will always be within about 5mi of a hard surface road.

I will print off a bunch of maps** for those that do not have GPS.

**I tried this last year and had problems with printing...so hopefully I can get that figured out

That looks nothing like mine. Besides, I refuse to put Touratech on mine. That thing looks like the TT catalog threw up on it, so that the proud owner could ride it to Starbucks.

IN! for at least talking about how I'm going to go, only to bow out at the last minute.

Depends really, but I like the idea of a whole hog BBQ, so I'll pay attention and hopefully this year I can make it.

EDIT: WTF - no balloons?

Fine. I'll get balloons.

If you don't have the time to ride all the way, can you just fly? The local strip (84Y) is just 1 mi to the East. Or is that just a work thing, and not for pleasure?

It was a work thing. Hopefully I can ride down.

I'm taking the year as it comes. I still have to "get back on the horse" after hitting a deer at the end of last season. I postponed a big tour this year because of it.

So hopefully I can get to some events instead, and get my nerve back, so to speak.

By "work thing", I meant that you fly for a living (right?) and do not have a personal aircraft at your disposal. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe PM zoid about that deer slaying thing. He will talk you back into getting on the two wheeled horse!

Oh I see what you mean. I do fly a fair bit for work, but do not have my own personal aircraft.

However, now you mention it, that sounds like something I should have, so I shall go and pound my fist on the CEO's desk and demand my own light aircraft.

I'll let you know how it goes.

All I need is for the snow and ice to sod off, and then I'll get my riding verve again.

It was just pointed out to me that hardly anyone hits two deer, so I should be good now.

That got me wondering; does it count if you've been hit and knocked off your bike BY a deer?

That's what happened to me.

So I say it counts.

You know local guy Dave Nelson? Goes by Bambislayer at the Team Strange stuff?

Don't ask him about this theory
I think he's biffed three.

I'll toss my post in the thread and see how this develops. It always sounds like a great time and something always gets in the way.

On the plus side, he's still riding.

Forward we shall march
Unto the land of swine and brew
Astride our trusty triples
Forward harch!
