Through the wonders of TiVo, we are watching Lawrence of Arabia sans commercials. The part at the beginning where he rides the JAP V twin to his death had me from the get go.

No clue on both accounts, we have betwen 6 & 8. Quail is pretty much flat, as in Calista Flokhart Flat with only a couple hills so small a kid on a tricycle could climb them. You are never more than a mile from the lot as the crow flies, never more than 2 miles by trail (4 mile loop) The elevated trail across the swamp could prove interesting, it's a 2x12 about 100 yards long.

I'm taking hiking boots also, if I can't ride, I'm walking it

Yeah, I've ridden there before. I was thinking how nasty that 2x12 bridge will be with icey snow cover I'm out because I won't be up that direction until this afternoon/evening. Have fun and be safe!

Talking

Thomas sez:

T. E. Lawrence was riding a Brough Superior with a JAP engine when he had his accident. He was one of George Brough's better customers. Owned something like 5 - SS100 models in his life.

Brough Superior's bring silly prices at auction now.....not sure why...other than the limited production.

It may have been a Brough, the cylinders are stamped JAP. Nice bike, whatever it is.

I think ED denotes the '13 model. Thankful for Cialis.

So the Dads of the 2 other kids Alex rides and races with are trying to talk me into racing a hare scramble this spring. I'm 35, never raced, hell never even ridden a proper motocross or woods race bike, and I don't think of myself as fast. Part of me wants to do it as a bucket list thing, and it would be cool to do a race weekend with Alex where we both race. Oh, he really wants me to do it too.

So, who can talk me into it or out of it?

You'll regret it if you don't do it, and it will give you something to look forward to and to train for.

GO FOR IT, You want to do it to complete the event, not to win. Pace yourself, let the faster riders pass,no one should be out to knock you down if you aren't trying to stop them. I like the Hare scrambles and they usually take out the big jumps associated with mx. Now get yourself a proper bike and start training.

Yep. I'm not sure how much the new drz motor gains off of mods, but the 650 is sorely lacking. Jimmy Lewis already proved a better rider is faster than a better bike when he took an xr650 against their 450mx bike and won.

Somecallmetim once imparted these words of wisdom to me, as it pertains to taking risks on a motorcycle:

You might regret it if you do it, you will regret it if you don't.
