Advise requested
Looking to buy a used KLR, and want to make sure of something.
The person I am buying it from has a lien on it with the bank. His suggested process is I pay him, he writes a bill of sale and I take the bill of sale and the bike home. He then gets the title from from the bank and gets the title to me. Is this the proper way to go about this. Seems OK to me, but figured you guys would know what to look out for. thanks |

Is it a big bank or little local deal? If it's local, go to the bank with him, pay it off and get the title. If it's a big bank, make the check out in the bank's name, or go down to a branch, pay it off, and get some sort of documentation.
Of course I have been burned a few times on stuff like that, so i am paranoid about getting ripped off.

Agreed, go to the bank with him. Plus the bank can notarize the title which saves a little time doing it elsewhere. If he is unwilling to do that, I'd walk.

Bill of sales do'nt always mean much, and if you do get ripped off the hassle of getting unripped off is just not worth it, there are tons of good deals on klrs out there |

Tom passed you on rt 30 after you dropped off Michael, did you hit the wall of water before you made it home? It was raining buckets around Paris to E Canton when I went through. I told Michael I was watching for guys out today, I went down to Calcutta and area (Beaver Local Schools) for a few hours for work.

Yes, I hit the wall of water, but it was ok because it was warm and the gear works well to keep the water out. It was just good to get a ride in. Mike said you stopped by.
