Arizona to Canada and back.

This is my trip report. I headed up to Vancouver Island from Arizona to visit a friend I met at the HU meeting in Creel last year. I spent a few days on Vancouver Island and then we headed across British Columbia towards Pemberton. I left my buddies in Lilliooet to head to the HU meeting in Silverton CO.

This is my bike on the ferry from Anacortes to Sydney BC.

My friend Ken at the ferry point looking happy to see me.

My self, Ken and his friend Mark heading to Cortez Island

Pics of Cortez Island

This is a cool carving contest held in Campbell River every year.

Riding around Vancouver Island.

Here is a pic of a black bear. I end up hitting a different one later in the trip.

Heading to the main land of Canada.

Ferry service to Horseshoe bay.

These are pics of British Columbia.

We traveled off-road from Pemberton to Lillooet and I had a lay down that
caused a bit of a set back. Notice anything missing?

This is Bill my friendly local welder. I promised to make him famous if he could get it fixed for me.

Great job Bill; it is still holding up for me. It's funny how things always seem to work out when you are on the road.

Camping outside of Lillooet.

Back on the road with my new brake assembly the next day.

The famous Toad Rock Campground.

Coming out of Nelson BC I clipped a black bear traveling around seventy. I didn't have time to stop so I pressed hard right to try and beat him to the point of impact. His head hit my Jesses and sent me into the ditch. Four cars drove by before anyone checked to see if everything was ok. I got up to see if the bear was ok and he just stood up, shook his head and ran into the forest. I didn't have time to take a picture but took a shot of his fur and paw print.

This is the ditch I ended up in.

Fur and print

I will post my photos of the USA and the Silverton HU meeting soon.

Thanks Gadget, if it wasn't for you it wouldn't be worth posting a ride report.

So, how exactly did you break the brake lever?

I was trying to pass my buddie on the inside(he was on a KLR) and washed out the front end. We still can't figure out how it broke since there weren't any rocks just soft dirt. My crash guards and Jesse's should have protected it. I guess it just one of those things you will never figure out.

Here is my welcoming group to the U.S.A. My wife Rebecca,Jerry,Michael and Louise. Michael is a good friend of mine who lives in Idaho and with his help I was able to repair my Jesse bag well enough to get home.

Here is Michael and I repairing the bag.

Rebecca and I at a July 4 parade.

Here is a few pics of the parade.

Here we are on Louise's boat for the fireworks.

My wife and I headed back up to Canada for our anniversary. This is my kind of place.

After taking my wife back to Idaho to catch her flight I headed out to the Horizon Unlimited meeting in Silverto, CO.

This Brewery was in Salmon ID and it had great food and even better beer.

We had a hidden camera in the woods when you hit the bear:

I've heard of deer strikes before, but this is a first.

A great adventure!

Here are some pics of Moab. I planned on staying longer and camping out but it was too hot so I kept riding. Sorry I didn't get more photos, I am going to have to make another trip here.

Next stop is the HU meeting in Creel. If you haven't been to one of these yet they are a lot of fun and very informative.

My friends Scott,Darren and Wayne.

This is the Mexican riding group that I met.

One of the training seminars.

Here is our home away from home for the week.

I'm not sure who this guy is but he got to camp late the night before and decided to sleep without his tent. This is first thing in the morning when there was dew everywhere and freezing cold.

These where a couple of friends I met there. Darren is from Australia and was headed down to South America with his wife. Wayne is from Ireland and lives in Montana, he is a tattoo and body piercing artist. he is the first Irishman I have met that doesn't drink.

And this is the end of the ride and the end of the report. I would like to thank everyone that took the time to take a look.

Cheers!!!

Perry

Yeah, Cortez Island and really all of the areas of British Columbia are fantastic. I actually have a lot more pictures of the area but I wanted to keep it short. You can go to my Smugmug account here to check out the rest if you want.

Yes, this was one whole trip. I put over four thousand miles on the bike in three weeks. I have the coolest wife in the world. She doesn't like to ride long distance so she just flys in to meet me on the route somewhere along the way.

Here is a picture of my wife; she is a very special person for putting up with my craziness.
