Petzl Tikka 2 here
Soon to be augmented with the "Core" USB-chargeable battery for bike camping (will stick to AAAs for hiking).

I've been using an Incendio for a few weeks now, it's got to be one of the best flash lights available at the moment, 350 lumens from one CR battery!
http://www.batteryjunction.com/incendio.html I still carry/use a Fenix L1D though, takes one AA battery which can bought just about any where if need be.

Another vote for petzl. I have one of these:
http://petzl.com/us/pro/hybrid-headlamps-0/myo-3-black 3AA battery and combination of LED for long life and halogen for power. Once you have had petzl torches its hard to go back to anything else. Sure you look like a complete knob wearing a head torch but it makes everything fuss free, from putting a tent up in the pissing rain to fixing bikes at the side of the road in the middle of nowhere! I even use it in the house for fiddly tasks needing that extra bit of directional lighting.

Here is my favorite of the dozen or so flashlights I own, the Fenix LD01:
http://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?products_id=639 Big bucks for a single cell light, but much nicer than any other I have tried. I also have a Fenix 2 AA cell light the L2D, which looks like it is now called the LD20+: http://www.4sevens.com/product_info....roducts_id=362 I have had them both for a couple of years now and they have been totally reliable, barely use up batteries, good color white light, and nice even beam patterns. I have converted both small and large Maglites to LEDs which improves them but I still use either the Fenix lights or Princeton Tec LED headlamps most of the time.

In the market for a decent flashlight for daily carry...
I thought that there was a more recent thread on flashlights, but I couldn't find it...So I'll bring this one back to life !
I'm looking for a decent flashlight that I can carry on a daily basis. Something with 200 lumen or more. So...What's the latest and greatest ? I don't want to spend a fortune but don't want any junk either ! |
