640 Adventure cockpit mods

Here are some picks of what I would call the "rough draft" on my Touratech/Scotty cockpit conversion! It's still in the early stages though (as you can probably tell)........Anyhoo, more pics later!

Thanks Bros!! Yeah the Tach is gone. It takes up alot of room and I can pretty much use "the force" in the revs department anyway so ITS OUTTA THERE!!

How do you like that Scots steering stabalizer? Did you have to weld or it just bolts on?

Love the stab:rabia !!! Once you ride off road with one you will never ride again without!

Scotts only makes a weld on kit for the KTM Adventure R. But the only thing that gets welded is the tower (the rest bolts on). I think I payed a guy $10 for the welding and it took a total of 5 minutes (with the tank off)!

Anyway, hope this helps.........

Could you comment on that Touratech cockput conversion part? Design, material, etc...

I have a big favor to ask. Could you measure how much more clearance you have below the roadbook? In other words, how much taller could the roadbook be and not mess with the steering?

Hey Chris,
Overall the Touratech conversion kit is pretty good (could be better...could be worse). The plate is black powder coated aluminum and seems pretty tough as it survived me augering in on the whoops @ the MX track last Monday

The fitment is good but it leaves a little to be desired as far as the placement of the roadbook carrier IMHO! With my GPS being located on the bars above the st. dampener I feel that the RB carrier could be about an inch higher to suit my needs! I also had to modify the backing plate to work with the stock KTM IMO (which was supposed to work according to the Touratech site)..
Now that I have a good template to work from I am going to go ahead and fab my own backplate and I will post pics along the way.........
Anyway, as far as your question about the clearance below the roadbook, the way it comes from Touratech you have about a 1/2 inch before you hit the top of the key in the switch, after triming the RB cover (which must be done in order for the RB to fit at all, unless you move the key tumbler)..
As far as a "taller roadbook" do you mean a thicker RB or one that hangs down farther on the backplate??
If its thicker then you have about a 1\4 in. before hitting your handguard mounts!
If it hangs lower on the backplate you have about 1/2 in. to the top of the key.

You won't regret it Arch, I PROMISE!!!! Not having to worry about headshake

is SOOoooo nice.. Not to mention roots, ruts n rocks. Also cuts down on swimming whenst moving out smartly in the sand

!!

I made my self again... And my design. I have alots of space in this area now. I can fix the other toys :) (Gps, tripmeter or some elec. switch etc, etc....) 2 mm aleyminium... I loved this...Maybe my next design will be better than this work...
