alternator cover
ok, so this is the first time taking the alternator cover off the bike.
Taken 3 screws out..disconnected the wires.. The cover should come off.. moved the brushes to the side. Seems stuck on the 5 oclock position. Is there something I'm missing?

If this is the R100GS then the stator is soldered to the cover at the 5 oclock position. You remove the cover and stator as one unit.

I think I know what you mean..The alternator is sleeved into the engine case. My stator sometimes was reluctant to pop off- I gently used a prying thing to pry up a little bit at a time around the perimeter. Like going around a paint can.
Like he said, metal cover and wire coils are one piece. Remove screws and alternator wires and kinda pry it off. Gentle! hehe no scratches!
