We never got the TT's that were sold in other countries. So finding a decent replacement shock here isn't easy. We did get a TT350 in 86 and 87 but it was an enduro and they damned rare today. Maybe international eBay is the way to go now that you mention the TT's.

Any chance anybody has a left hand side cover and a pair of plastic air scoops for the engine for a '85 XT 350 ?

After having tried for a month in the parts section, I cant even get a single reply ??

I removed those useless mud collectors in 1986 and rode it that way until 2003. I moved the horn up under the tank and never thought about them again.

Anyone need a stock metal tank of a 94? I've sold my bike and have a few spare pieces laying around. It's blue (IIRC) and I think it's straight. Make me an offer.

Also have a stock alternator winding and a couple voltage regulators,,, cheap.

When I parted out my XT350 the stuff I thought would go for decent money like the Supertrapp EAR, the perfectly jetted carb and the Clarke tank didn't sell for much. The stuff I thought was crap like the seat, those fake shrouds, the instruments, the lights, etc. all went for decent money. I made close to $500 parting it out even though the engine was completely grenaded. Almost all of that was for stuff I figured was bound for the recycle bin. I guess people like to try to make them look stock.

Thumb Thanks for the info on the spring guys

Thanks guys for the input on the rear shock spring and oil weight... I have sourced a used spring for very cheap locally, I will try it with just the different spring, if I dont like the feel and ride, I will go with 10w oil in the shock as well.

re the battery: go to Lowes or Home Depot or something and look for sealed home alarm system batteries. Not only are they sealed, one of the standard sizes fits the battery box perfectly and they only cost about $30. Mine has been fine for 2 years now, has been under water a few times, and works fine below 30 degrees. I have a 12v outlet on my XT, which I use for charging cell phones, ipod, GPS, laptop if I'm camping...it works great. If your charging system isn't working, it's probably something to do with either the stator being bad or the regulator/rectifier being bad, both of which are common on older bikes. The headlight doesn't actually run through the DC system - it has its own coil on the stator for AC power, so the headlight is not a good gauge of charging system health. With the bike running, the battery should be around 14-14.4 volts.

I read through most of this thread and didnt find an answer to my question......Has anyone tried a yamaha banshee rear shock on an XT350? I just finished upgrading my front suspension on my 85' xt350/400 and now the back is due for an upgrade.
